The way most people think about movies is not "I desperately want to see 'Fight for Blood' tonight." It's more "Let's watch a movie, check what's on Netfilx and pick one." Therefore, as long as there's a reasonably wide range of stuff to pick from, they will stick with streaming and never consider buying.

Blu-rays and other types of physical media are for collectors now, a much smaller market but still a lucrative one for specialists.
