I asked A.I. to list a few actors who decided to step away from the limelight to focus on other passions and careers.

1. Rick Moranis

    After his wife passed away, Moranis stepped away from acting in the mid-1990s to focus on raising his children. He now does occasional voice work but hasn't fully returned to the screen.

2. Cameron Diaz

    Diaz retired from acting in 2014 to focus on her personal life, family, and business ventures, including writing and producing health-related content and launching a wine company.



3. Gene Hackman

    Hackman retired from acting in 2004 to pursue a career as a novelist. He has since written several historical fiction novels.



4. Greta Garbo

    One of Hollywood's most famous actresses in the 1930s, Garbo retired at the peak of her career in 1941 to live a private life out of the spotlight.

5. Mara Wilson

    Known for Matilda and Mrs. Doubtfire, Wilson retired from acting in the early 2000s to focus on writing and advocacy. She has since published a memoir and writes for various outlets.

6. Angus T. Jones

    Jones, who starred as Jake Harper on Two and a Half Men, left acting in 2012 after criticizing the show and wanting to pursue a more spiritual life. He now focuses on charity work and religious activities.



7. Jack Gleeson

    After portraying the villainous King Joffrey on Game of Thrones, Gleeson retired from acting to focus on academics and his theater company.

8. Phoebe Cates

    Cates, famous for roles in Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Gremlins, retired from acting in the 1990s to focus on her family and run her boutique in New York City.



9. Ariana Richards

    Best known for her role in Jurassic Park, Richards left acting to pursue a career as a professional painter and has since found success in the art world.



10. Danny Lloyd

    The child star from The Shining retired from acting after a few roles, later becoming a biology professor.
