Gene was 95, he just might have died of natural causes. The wife and dog are the mysteries.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

That would seem to cover the facts that are known so far, but we'll see. Now that I've heard where his wife was found, I'm still not ruling out the prolific celebrity bathtub serial killer striking again.

He was found dead in the mud room, so near the door.  She was found in another room near an open pill bottle with scattered pills.  The dog was dead in a closet, but two other dogs were alive and they had a dog door.  They weren't found for over a week.  Pure speculation going on I guess...

Plausibly he was out walking and tried to come back in from feeling a cardiac event, and collapsed and died of a heart attack or other event.  She was upset enough when she found him she took her own life.  The dog was either trapped in the closet or crated, and died of thirst.

The autopsy reports on both Mr Hackman and his wife have been released: most upsetting. I read the account on www.dailymail.co.uk and it isn't nice to read. 😔😔

The saddest part, to me, is that he apparently wandered around the house for nearly a week after his wife died, too far gone with Alzheimer's to seek help, before collapsing and dying himself.
What an awful way to go . . .
