Both are very good movies. He was often at his best when playing comedy. JUNIOR is also highly underrated.

Also, Bob, I revisited DIABOLIQUE earlier this year and confirmed my initial suspicion from college, and yours. Meh. And HALLOWEEN III is terrific!

ah, always avoided that one due to it being compared badly to his previous comedy turns. next time I see the dvd cheapo I'll give it a whirl

I liked JUNIOR, which is no guarantee of anything, but I'll testify in a court of law that Ahnuld and Frank Langella were as funny an onscreen pairing as Ahnuld and DeVito.

I loathed the STAR WARS prequels.

That's not exactly an unpopular opinion.  They used to be really hated.  The the new sequels came out and people had something different to hate.

I liked STAR WARS THE FORCE AWAKENS - I even saw it at our local Imax theater - but I never saw the other two.

Chapters VIII and IX are both infinitely better than THE FORCE AWAKENS. (Now that's an unpopular opinion.)

I didn't particularly like IX all that much, either. VIII had some good parts as well as some lame parts.

I don't like STAR WARS at all. Overblown Flash Gordon junk. Kiddie sci fi.

Nothing good to say about HARRY POTTER, any of the LORD OF THE RINGS films, and the FRIDAY THE 13th movies are garbage.

I have zero desire to watch any of the FAST AND FURIOUS franchise.

The second film, 2Fast 2Furious is actually quite funny. The bloopers on that are great. 😄😄🐢

That is an unpopular opinion. I'm not sure if IX isn't the worst in the entire series--it's certainly right down there with PHANTOM MENACE. I agree that VIII is a mixed bag, though. They should have let Rian Johnson finish the series out.

That stings me, about the Friday films. More of a guilty pleasure for me, especially Jason X and Freddy vs Jason.

I can agree about the LOTR films.

Quote from: HappyGilmore on May 13, 2025, 09:49:31 AMGranted I've never read the book, but I prefer the Kubrick version of the Shining compared to the mini series that King was involved with.

I think that's the general census of most people

Me too even though I loathed the Kubrick version of THE SHINING.
Around here, at least, most people prefer the miniseries. I don't know why.

But I intend to checkout the book from the local library.
