Loved the book, liked the film with Ahnold but this looks terrible.

I think Edgar Wright is an excellent visual director, but the tone of literally ALL of his films is a terrible match for The Running Man - either the Arnold version or the novel (this seems to tip mostly to the novel, with some Arnold references).  I think this will still be entertaining, as he's just that talented, and Glen Powell is a good choice for the lead, but yeah, my expectations are low.

Agreed 100%.

I didn't think it looked horrible, it's certainly closer to the book than the first one is, but it also feels a touch too generic-modern-action-movie.

Either I haven't seen the original Running Man movie (gasp) or a I don't remember it (double gasp) so I cannot compare this trailer with anything relevant. It seems like a bit of fun?

It is the usual race and gender swap nonsense so prevalent today. Ben's wife in the book was Caucasian, in the film she is black and the minor male character of Laughlin in the book is now female 😕

it's the trendy thing now, it seems...

well there's definitely at least a couple of scenes from the orig that will be recreated differently (or omitted) for 2025... i.e. the scene where Richards 'introduces' himself to Amber while she's doing a workout in her apartment

this time I expect he'll ring the doorbell and she'll invite him in for a nice soy latte
