Brenda, my career mentor of more than twenty years and that rare someone who I genuinely liked, loved and respected, passed away this morning.  

She was an amazing person, someone who you could almost instantly like and love.

She saw true potential in me, encouraged me, mentored me, told me to ignore the idiots in my life and also kicked my butt when needed.

My day always got brighter when I heard from her or saw her.

The last time we spoke was fittingly in a theatre where I was about to see Jaws for the first time.

I am absolutely devastated.

I have had six career mentors in my life and they have now all left me.

Brenda, I love you, I loved you and always will.

She was a very special person indeed. Tough, uncompromising, kind, beautiful, very funny, special and someone who would have your back especially if she felt you were being threatened.

I have spent the last two days remembering and reminiscing with people about her. Everyone who knew her - and it's a lot of people - is hurting.

She was my friend, my mentor, my champion and my big sister.
