This was really good.

I'm not really going to rehash the plot here, but it pretty much follows the classic myth, with a bit of the Illiad thrown in. We do see the Trojan Horse and the destruction of Troy. But it covers probably everything you remember about it if you first read it in high school like I did.

I guess there's been plenty of standard internet outrage, about casting. I'm just going to say the two controversial ones aren't really in the movie enough to make a big deal about it.

I thought the visual design of many moments looked really good. It has some horror movie elements.

There is the Cyclops story, and the design of the creature is a bit uncanny. Still a very traditional design, but they elevate it a bit by having some of its features slanted. Making it almost look like birth defects instead of a natural creature.

Circe transforming Odysseus's men into pigs looks like something out of a body horror movie.

I'll say the one that disappointed me was Scyalla. Just a couple of worm like tentacles.  It's hinted at that they might be attached to a larger creature, but we never see it.

SO, if you have a chance to see it, I'd recommend it.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

I'm seeing it in IMAX a week from today. Did you see it that way or just in the regular theater?

They were filming that around where I live and Chris Nolan went to our local cinema to catch a film. No idea what he watched though.
