I was wondering because I am contemplating having the local video store order me a copy(since I can't find it anywhere else around).  Haven't seen it yet, but wanting to get some opinions from others who have seen it.  Search on Yahoo turned up very little.

Cullen

It's a Troma film.  What more can there be to say?

It's been LONG years since I've seen it, but nothing about it really sticks in my mind.  Not like "Toxic Avenger" or "Class of Nuke'em High."  I think I've read one positive review for it (well, as positive as a review for a Troma film can be.)

Take that as you will.  Personally, I'd give it a pass.

coupwick

Yes, Troma's War is a Troma film at heart, but it is very, very bad.  By bad I mean BORING.  The movie is over two hours with very few things happening of interest throughout.  I am not biased toward Troma (I'm actually a huge fan), but Troma's War is the eighties' worst Kaufman/Herz film.  In short: It sucks very, very much.

Steven Millan

As much as I agree with Coupwick,I'll admit that,at least,"Troma's War" is available through their own video/DVD line, and does have its moments of sheer rude nastiness:a pimply,AIDS-infected terrorist rapes one of the female leads(and you thought that a fetus ripping scene was sick,Scotty...),the terrorist army's Siamese twins leader is sliced(length-wise)in half, various blood squirts are fired off(on many terrorists/Troma extras, with one person playing SIX different disposable terrorists),and a John Belushi lookalike leads the way in terrorists asskickings galore. And,there's grisly plane wreck carnage at the begininng(with a newly blinded girl soon to become a terrorist asskicker).
And,oh yeah:that AIDS-infected terrorist gets an arrow in the crotch,in case you're curious.

Will

I must speak up in support of Troma's War. I think it's one of their best. Bad taste galore, violence, and a big budget for a Troma movie. Good dialogue, plus it has Mr. AIDS. worth seeing.

Vermin Boy

I gotta go with Will on this one. While I don't agree with those (including Kaufman) who think it's their best film, it's got some great Troma excesses, like the stranded survivors just happening to include a psycho Vietnam vet and a British assassin, and the fact that the terrorists consist of every stereotype imaginable (Nazis, Communists, Muslim extremists, American bigots) with the only justification being "Communists, fascists-- they're all the same when you think about it!" Be sure to get the unrated director's cut, though; I've heard bad, bad things about the R-rated version.

Gerry

It is pretty bad--as in boring--but you got to love the bit where the granny does Kung Fu and blows away the bad guys with a massive machine gun.  Go, Grandma!

systemcr4sh

Yeah steer clear from the R-rated cut.

Its basically all the boring parts.

Saw it on cable years ago and don't remember much of anything about it other than that there was a plane crash at the start.
