Peter Jackson's next film might actually be "King Kong," according to rumor.  His name was attatched to it earlier, so it's not that big of a stretch.  Here's to hoping...

                       I surely hope so,too,since Peter(Jackson)'s the only one who can untangle the mess that 1976's "King Kong" badly left .
                       I just hope that he doesn't use way too many CGI FX,and has a good chance of an actress(Kate Winslet,Liv Tyler)to play the big ape's human main squeeze,and has all of the dinosaurs and giant spiders that the 1976 Kong heavily lacked(and foolishlky left out),as well as not aim this at a kiddie audience(keeping it a heavy PG-13 as possible)..

Actually, a script was written, effects tests were done and pre-production was well underway when the plug was pulled on Jackson's Kong, due mainly to the fact that Sony's Godzilla was coming out. Can you imagine a Kong update with Peter Jackson's splashes of dark humor and crazy camera work? I imagine New Zealand would double as Kong's island.

I would like to see a nice balance between the original and the remake in terms of co-star monsters; the original threw too many pointless one-sided dinosaur fights at the audience (only the T-Rex presented a challenge to Kong); the remake clipped it down to a fight with one Freudian symbol as a euphemism for sexual conflict.

Since Kong is strictly a fantasy monster, I'd like to see him--or even the humans--fight a few other fantasy monsters. How long has it been since a movie's female lead took on a horny man-eating plant?

...regarding CG effects...i also agree that jackson should get back to his roots...he took puppetry to a different level...

when you are watching a movie now...with great atmosphere...nothing ruins it like a cheesed-out Computer Generated effect...

Jackson's movies don't need computer effects...he had such great puppets in his early stuff...make an old-school flick..effects designed by real artists, not video game rejects...!@!!!!!!

I liked the comment on "too many pointless one-sided dinosaur fights," particularly since the original cut had an extra dinosaur attack dealing with triceratops.  

While I like the plesiosaur’s battle and the pteranodon, I think you're right.  Though instead of few battles, make the battles more challenging to Kong.

As for the movie's female lead fighting a man eating plant...I don't know.  When would she have the time?  Kong, on the other hand...that might be interesting.

If Jackson does Kong....should he do it as a period piece? A retelling of the tale, as a modern take on a 30's film? Who would make a good Carl Dennem? I think the 30's atmosphear could make it special. What say you?
