"Anarchism does not mean bloodshed; it does not mean robbery, arson, etc. These monstrosities are, on the contrary, the characteristic features of capitalism. Anarchism means peace and tranquility to all."

I'm not going to beat around the bush on this one; watching what's going on in this country, it's clear to me more people need to be educated. More people need to learn how to think clearly and critically.
What is education about, anyway? It's about learning things, gaining knowledge, broadening your experience, and so forth. It's not the same as job training or indoctrination, and while policyheads will never use those words, that's what they are effectively devising with their education policy. For a society like America to function, you need a managerial (ruling) class and a employee (working) class. And that's just for the peons -- the really rich just glide on by, nearly invisible and seemingly untouchable. Their wealth allows them to gain a true education, more often than not.

But for the vast majority of you, "education" amounts to narrowing your options, closing your mind, getting you to accept the status quo as the "best of all possible worlds" and to know your place in it. The parts of education that aren't outright indoctrination are compartmentalized and specialized, so you learn to think in narrow terms, and not broadly -- small picture versus big picture. You're trained to do a job, or at least be able to get a job and work reasonably well. You're taught not to run with scissors.

And this relates to bad movies how?

As far as anarchy goes, I like the quote by Ken Hamblin..."People who favor anarchy should move to the inner city.  They've had it there for years."   What a lot of people forget is that not everybody is nice and has good intentions.  If you want to see an idea of what anarchy would actually be like, hell, you could probably look at some of the apocalyptic, end of the world movies on this site and get a pretty good idea....

Ummm....are we lost? You do know this is not a political site?

Next thing you know, we're going to have guys posting about which female celebs they'd most like to bang.

I understand that not everybody is nice and happy. I am just saying our government and ever other government thinks they have the right to rule every aspect of our lives. That includes bad movies. I realize the need for law and order i think that sometimes its taken too far. Like when our basic human rights a stripped away. Basic human rights such as watching bad movies and playing bad video games, hell even rap music. The busy bodies in congress think they can take these things away as they sit on their asses and decide what is right for all of America, as they raise there own pay checks. As they tax the people and spend the money on instruments of war, and other pointless items. The way things are going right now we will be wearing bar codes by 2006. Please dont give in to their lies and please dont be taken by their baby kissing and sweet words. Why do you think other countries hate us so much. We hide behind our family values and create our own little world and black out the rest of the world and its problems. This is why i say wake up and be heard. Oh yeah and I cant wait for Evil Dead a fistful of boomstick.

toodles.

No one is 'nice' or 'happy', these are labels ascribed to nebulous and transitory feelings or behaviors that are entirely subjective (things you perceive as 'nice' or make you 'happy' may not be so to the person next to you).

Always has been, always will be.  VOTE people, this small irritation is what allows us all what little freedoms we think we have.

Law = control.  I am against 'moral' law (i.e. outlawing sexual practices/positions and even prostitution).  As far as "basic human rights".  I have come to believe that Human Beings have NO rights other than those we bestow on ourselves, or allow others to bestow upon us.  Nature is a cruel, survival oriented beast.  Humans are thinking animals, but still animals.  We need to understand that and our unavoidable violent tendencies and embrace  fantasy catharsis without guilt.

No instrument of war is truly pointless.  Human beings are violent animals that will act in illogical and violent ways to serve self interest and having weapons to protect and ward off if necessary.  Andrew is a Marine, an instrument of war (our Nation's Defense).  Does that make HIM pointless?  "Other pointless items" is a subective dismissal that maks no argumentative sense at all.  The collecting of comics, music, videos, movies, books, art, et al is thoroughly pointless.  The actual worth of said items is entirely subjective and usually decided by people other than yourself.

>The way things are going right now we will be wearing bar codes by 2006.

Extreme but needless Orwellian fear mongering.  You have a social security number, a driver's licence (or a state issued identification for which your fingerprint is taken), and even car registration.  You are already barcoded dude, deal with it.

And just how is your rhetoric in anyway more valid than theirs?  Your belief in it is proof of nothing outside of showing you opinion.

Why do I think other countries hate us?  Abstract demonizing just like you are doing.  I do not blame the "government" or "big business" or "liberals" or "religion" or even "conservative" dogma.  These are simply concepts put forth by people.  Created by people for people.  I do not blame faceless orgainzations.  It is the flawed PEOPLE running said organizations, not the organizations themselves that cause the damage.  As far as I can see world events are not that different than they were twenty or so years ago...the sky is falling, world war is eminent, the earth is running out of resources (SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!).  These were all hot topics of vital importance in the seventies that have come around again, and will again...and again...and again...

Besides, becoming involved in some else's problems meaning choosing a side which, politically or socially, means making enemies.  I am a big supporter of remaining as neutral and hands off as possible when it comes to outside conflicts.  THE USA IS NOT THE POLICE FORCE OF THE WORLD.  What irritates me is that the many humanitarian actions taken by Americans to ease the suffering of others is overlooked (yeah, we do good things too many countries love and respect us as much as others hate us).  If you begin making decisions based solely on what other people think of you, you have sacrificed you individuality completely.

I work for a law firm that represents Home Owners Associations, groups that band together and monitor certain aspects of the area for the common good.  Right?  Well that means more rules and regulations telling you how long decorations can remain on the outside of you house, what kind of curtains can hang in your windows, what color your house can be painted, how high your fence can be, whether you can or cannot have a mobile home parked in you driveway, etc.  To keep you neighborhood 'nice' looking you release some of your personalized control so you don't have a 'trashy' look to the neighborhood.

And what of Neighborhood Watch, this promotes spying on our neighbors to ward of potential crime.  Their is a give and take here, however when we choose comfort over everything else (when we begin to mistake privledge for a right) we all wind up giving more than taking.

Sacrificing selfish self interest for the common good of a group will eventually erode you individuality (belief me, each of us is offensive to somebody in the world for some reason, be it political or religious or cultural) loosing some of that individuality for the 'common good' is the price of living in a 'civilization'.

Also I grow tired with the 'my way is right and all others are evil' mentality.  We embrace whatever works to the best advantage of our goals and demonize the rest simply to make our beliefs look superior to the others, until that changes we are truly doomed to repeat our mistakes endlessly.

I don't have a boomstick becaue, believe it or not, I'm a slasher movie loving pacifist!

As soon as there is a colony on Mars, I'm offa this marble!

Amen 'zilla. Anarchy is too easy (though I'd be interested to see how I'd survive in a Stand type situation). If you don't like the way the world is, then do something. Change the world or the world will change you.

So i understand and i will stop preaching. Sorry if i p**sed you off so much, with my ideas. I also very open to others ideas (unlike the us of a). This is all really about the fist amendment, and how random people in congress think and what they try to shove on the rest of us, thats all. I dont like porno, if fact i find it rather animalistic, but i do think people should be able to look at it if they want to. I think i should be able to dress up like a cowboy run around naked reading penthouse magazine singing barry manalow if i want to. As long as it doesnt hurt anyone but me. Censorship p**ses me off too i mean come on, if b***hy parents dont want their kids to see something, maybe they should try something called parenting and stop them from veiwing it. This is the best country in the world and i am not saying i hate it in anyway. I am just challengeing the ideas of a bunch of people who only love money and power, some where along the way value of human life was lost and replaced with the value of the dollar, and as far as the military goes, they are tools. I get the reason for a military, they are there to defend our way of life, but sometimes a president with no sense of morality thinks there his own personal army. So im sorry if i offended you i will go some where else with my "veiws". I will now  only talk about bad movies here even though my "veiws" relate to everyone.

Chadzilla

Your views (why did you put them in quotes, don't you believe in them seriously enough?) are welcome in this forum and in any other.  Hampering the free flow of ideas by shouting (or shooting) down points of view that you disagree with is just another form a censorship and one I despise irregardless of whether or not I agree or disagree with the person's points of view.  Whether not we argee completely is irrelevant.  That we both have the chance to openly enter into a discussion about it is the true meaning of free speech.  When people stoop to simply using hate speech (i.e. profanity or insults directed at you as a person) rather than in a spirited debate (I do not consider calling someone's ideas stupid as hate speech, but reasons for it had better be given an example as to WHY or the person hurling the insults sounds trite and childish).

Like I said, I am against moral suppression.  A lot of people argue about how vile porn is (granted some of the contemporary stuff is pretty dang grotty), but I increasingly believe that it is our soceity's view of sex being nasty and dirty that does more harm than the industry itself ever could (however I do argue that the Adult Film Industry IS in serious need of reform).  I also completely support same sex unions.  Okay, some think it's a deviant and sick lifestyle, so freakin' what, people have certain rights under the law and they should be given equally.  Whether you find someone's lifestyle offensive is completely irrelevant to me (lazy arguers will undoubtedly toss up confusing children or some such nonsense, but if the debate was as open and free as we all think it is then such arguments would hold very little weight).

As far as b-moves go, Day of the Dead is the best Romero zombie movie of all time!

The last time i checked congress people were put there to try to force their views on others.  they are called "representatives" for a reason.  they are "representing" the views of their constituents.  If they weren't then they wouldn't have been voted into office in the first place.  If they start changing their position or offending their constituents then they will be voted out.  Its the way the system is designed to work.  and it would work pretty good if more people get off their ass and vote.  if you don't do that then you have no right to b***h about anything a politician does.

josh patrick

Yeah, and i am sorry if i got a little hot headed but i have some strong opinions about all of this. So about people not putting in their vote. People lead real lives this is reality and not everyone gets to around to it. They may represent you and a lot of others but they don't represent me, it does not relate to everyone so try to be a little more open minded, and i think dawn of the dead was better.

Amen to that!!!! I especially like your last point. If you give up your right to vote don't b***h about what's going on with the government, since you aren't doing anything to change the situation. As of now I will stay out of political discussions on this board. I'll try to anyway. :)
