check out "28 days later". A movie from the UK where an virus has killed everyone on the planet, the survivors are zombies (a'la "Omega Man") and a few uninfected people must survive.

"28 days later"?!?  This is a real title?  It sounds like a joke --
There is an actual line from Firesign Theatre's hi-fi sci-fi comedy, I Think We're All Bozos on This Bus, that goes:  "Millions of months passed and, 28 days later, the Moon appeared . . .".
It then goes on about a walking catfish with enormous testicles, etc. etc.  Vermin knows what I'm talking about . . .
