Now this is one that I remember clearly although I no doubt saw it during the day back in the seventies (1976??).  Something tells me that it may or may not be an old episode of Hammer House of Horror.  I was channel surfing as a kid and saw this scene, which creeped me out utterly.  Because of the production values I thought it was a soap opera (I was a kid, it was midday and the thing look shot on video), but the events soon took a spooky turn that creeped me out, so I changed the channel...this little of it I remember

Two characters, one male the other female, searching a deserted out.  The find a painting where the faces have all been obscured, mauled?, and then the camera crawls towards a child's doll on a bed.  The doll has the same distorted, mauled?, features as those in the painting.  Cut to view of exterior of house.  All the windows are black, and moving through them is a light that jumps, to me (at the time) it looked like one of  those pulsing lights on a heartbeat monitor, seems that the sound was the same - if my memory isn't fooling me.

Changed channel right about then.

Any idea WHAT this was???  I know I wasn't dreaming.

MIGHT be "Dark Shadows",  a show from the late 60's early 70's.  It was basically a soap operah with horror movie elements, AKA wherewolves, vampires, etc.  You might have seen  a clip from a re-run.  Other than that I don't have a clue.
