Actually, IIRC, Mario came out before Jurassic Park. What it does seem to be ripping off, however, is... Buckaroo Banzai! Think about it: Alternate dimension accessed through solid rock... Evil overlord, played by manic character actor with goofy hairdo, intent on merging the two dimensions... Even the "inside the rock" graphics were similar!

I actually didn't know that. Never heard it used like that, and that's not how it's used in the movie. Goomba refers to those wierd big beasty things with tiny heads. Thanks for quite possibly saving me some embarassment and a beating from an italian person.

Well CARNOSAUR came out just before JP and we all know that certainly isn't an original movie. Copycats can stil be made while a highly anticipated flick is in development.
