Neon Noodle (I love that name!) mentioned "M.A.N.T.I.S.," which is probably the saddest traffic accident FOX ever engineered. The TV-movie was a hit, so--naturally--FOX gutted it of key elements of that success when "developing" the series. And--naturally--it didn't last very long.

Worst part: the African exchange-student assistants were replaced by a sassy spunky White bike messenger sidekick with "tude." Ewwwwww.

SPOILER ALERT!

Horrifying end:  Our hero accidentally blows himself and his girlfriend to smithereens destroying an invisible dinosaur. No, I'm serious. His scientist sidekick--another White guy crowbarred into the cast to make it more platable to Trent Lott types who were uncomfortable with certain attitudes expressed in the movie--seals up the superhero-lair AND the MANTIS technology that could potentially help all those spinal-cord injury victims out there. Ah, screw 'em, right?

Bravo, FOX. Bravo.

Gosh, remember when the Internet was supposed to be a wonderful magical place where intelligent, articulate people shared information? Neighborhood went to hell real fast... - Anarquistador

See the last topic I posted (in older messages).

How could Everyone forget about Earth 2 about a group of humans who travel to a distant planet to escape a crippling disease only to find the government had been using it for a prison.
If God is watching us, the least we can do is be
entertaining.

I think the greatest series finale I ever saw was the season finale of Millenium season two.  I hated Carter for completely ignoring the plot concepts introduced in THAT.

Great closing image too...

No Bigfoots or Wildboys? What kind of world IS this?

In Britain a couple of years back, channel 5 ( a channel usually devoted to showing endless game shows and soft porn) commisioned an excellent TV series called 'Urban Gothic'.
Essentially an anthology of supernatural tales set in London, the series was frequently very gory and very entertaining. Unfortunately, channel 5 decided to bury it in the schedules, and after getting halfway through the second season, an episode that ended with a plane crash was unfortunately scheduled to be shown soon after 9/11. Channel 5 quickly moved the show around in the schedules so that nobody could find it and the season was abruptly bought to a close. For some reason the French have released some of the episodes on DVD, but there are no DVDs available anywhere else.
I still have fond memories of an episode where Richard O'Brien turned up playing an undead chronicler of London and chopped a zombie's head off with his bare hands.
