Just thinking of happier times recently because this war has me really depressed, and with North Korea looming over the horizon, it doesnt look like this will end soon.

Anyways, I was just remembering some of my firsts. My first R movie I saw, when I was 13, with my dad, was Species. A perfect B horror movie, that gave me my virst crush (Natasha Henstridge) as well as some of my first scares. There is a scene where someone is on the toilet and the alien's arm comes through the wall and killed her. Go figure that I had to pee halfway through. I was so scared I asked my dad to come with me although what could he do against an alien.

Second I remembered my first movie without adult supervision was the Haunting remake. Hows craptacular was that. Not very scary, but a memory nonetheless.

Last I remembere my first date ever was to see this chick flick Shes All That. I was naiive and a little scared so, I sat like a statue the whole time. Throughout the movie, the girl wriggled and moved closer and closer, brushing my arm, hitting my foot, but I didnt react. At the end of the movie, I said "Gosh, you sure do move around a lot". Needless to say, that was my last date with her....

What are some of your memories??

My fondest memory of going to the movies would have to be when my sister took me to see Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and we snuck out of it to go see Full Metal Jacket.

I remember going to see the Karate Kid when I was about 9. I went with my karate class and we were all wearing our little karate outfits. I felt so frickin' bad ass, I figured that because I was dressed like the Karate Kid, everyone assumed I too, was a studly he-man like Ralph Macchio. I quit the karate class soon after, but I kept the karate outfit....still fits!!

Everyone has potentially fatal flaws, but yours involve a love of soldiers' wives, an insatiable thirst for whiskey, and the seven weak points in your left ventricle.

Ah yes.  My first girlfriend and I were brought together by Evil Dead 2.  We were watching it at a cast party for a high school play (no one else had seen it and I insisted).  She was sitting next to me and was kinda freaked out.  By the end of the film we were holding hands.

Mr. first "non kids" movie was the original WILLARD.

My first R rated movie was THE GODFATHER, which I saw at the drive-in when I was 8 years old.

I also have fond memories of theatrical viewings of:

* BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID (which must have been on its 3rd or 4th theatrical run by the time I saw it . . . remember, this was pre-VCRs, cable, and DVDs).

* THE TRIAL OF BILLY JACK (I never saw the original in the theater).

* THE EXORCIST (another drive-in viewing).

* FUTUREWORLD (me and a buddy saw it at a 5:30 p.m. showing on a week day - we sat in the front row and were the only 2 people in the theater).

* LOGAN'S RUN (good "PG" style nudity).

Ahhhh . . . memories . . .

My best movie memory was the time that I rented John Woo's Hard Boiled from Blockbuster when I was 14.  I was bored out of my mind and figured I'd pick the most amusing movie.  Well, the name Hard Boiled for an action movie cracked me up for some stupid reason, so I went ahead and rented it.  I popped it in, and my jaw was on the floor for the next two hours.  I had never seen anything like that movie at the time.  Needless to say, I've been a Woo fan ever since, and I can attribute my love for action movies to this single movie.

That, and seeing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the first day it was out in theaters.  Talk about the movie event of a lifetime for any little kid at the time.  And to make things better, the movie didn't suck at all!

I didn't go out to the theater much when I was younger, and I still don't to this day, so all of my movie experiences have been at home. I remember the first time I watched the Godfather with my dad, and actually understood what was going on. I had watched it many times before, but had fallen asleep or never really paid attention throughout, and when I finally saw it for what it was, I was astounded.

The bad movies that really got my blood boiling for more was from a short marathon of movies we rented a couple years back. It was Blood Feast, Beaks, Giant Gila Monster, and Maniac. I hold each of those movies in very high regard (especially Blood Feast) because of how impacting they were on my future choice of cinema.

I once saw a drive-in double bill in 1976 of "Godzilla Vs. Megalon" (the latest at the time; the ad had them both on top of the Twin Towers ala King Kong) & "Son of Blob". They showed a trailer for "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" as well. I was 5 years old and very proud that I did not have nightmares.

Later as an early teen, my friends & I told my mother that we'd go to the movies and see "The Twilight Zone: The Move" but we really saw "Porky's Two: The Next Day".

But as a family, we used to load up the station wagon (two parents and four boys) with a cooler and home-cooked food (burgers, corn on the cob, etc.) and go to the nearest drive-in where we saw "The Bad News Bears", some Herbie The Love Bug movie and in 1981, "Happy Birthday To Me" (our last) among others.

These are all great movie moments, keep 'em coming!

K-Sonic's post about Godzilla vs. Megalon brought back another memory that I can't believe I forgot about.  Seeing Godzilla 2000 in the movie theater was a GREAT experience.  I'm sure it'll be the only Godzilla film I'll ever be able to see on the big screen, so I'll never forget it.  Me, my friend, and some guy sitting in front of us were the only three people in the theater.  When Godzilla fights against the monster at the end, the dude (an older black guy) in front of us shouts out something about the monster resembling a giant silicone breast implant.  This guy had been completely silent the whole movie.  It was so random and out of the blue that we all started laughing.  That, and the fact that he was older and didn't look like he'd say something like that.  One of those moments in the theater that doesn't happen too often to me.

I remember seeing the original uncut Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (then released as vs. the Cosmic Monster) in a theatrical matinee run during the early eighties.  I made my mom postpone our grocery shopping trip and take me to see it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles holds fond memories for me as well. First time I saw a movie on opening day(as far as I remember). I have since seen many movies on opening day but this was the first so that alone made ot special.

Termenator 2-First R rated movie I saw in the theatre. Went with my Dad and my brother. Great night.

Saw Toy Story 2 and The Flinstones In Viva Rock Vegas as a double feature the summer I graduated. What makes it special was that I went with a bunch of friends one was a girl I still have a crush on.  How do you beat that. Well ok it would have helped if the second feature had been something better but hey I ain't complaining! :)

As for opening day movies I saw every Batman movie (except for Batman and RObin which I have never seen)  All seemed so great and new.

Go was the first movie  I saw in college.

Spider-Man was the first movie I saw with my present and greatest girlfirend. A great movie and a great girl, what could be better?

My first movie memory was from TV probably around 1967. It was a Frankenstien movie. I'm not sure which one it was, but Frankenstien was throwing furniture in a pit of fire. Anyone know the name of this one? It seemed to be a Karloff one. Definately a Universal film.

Probably my earliest Theater Memory was also SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS. It must have been a re-release of the film around 1970.

Anually on TV would be:

Wizard of Oz
The Birds

Other films that I had early fond memories seeing at the theater were:

Theater:

Son of Flubber
Herbie Rides Again
Gus
Legend of Boggy Creek
Midway
Grease
Porky's

Drive-In:

Mad Max
Jaws
Blues Brothers
Animal House
Gong Show: The Movie

Little Art Theater

Road Warrior
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Polyester

I  am way too young for drive ins, but is it really true that people actually watched the movie as opposed to making out as most Hollywood schreck led me to believe?????
