How's this for thread?

Top five movies in your library (actual or wishlist) & Perhaps top five you're almost (actually wouldn't own up to if you knew folks on the list personally): Other catagories good too.

Top 5 in no particular order:
1) Army of Darkness
2) Evil Dead 2
3) Cemetary Man
4) Six String Samurai (thanks to Andrew for Heads up on this one).
5) Dead Alive

Top 5 honorable mention:
1) Return of the Living Dead
2) Innocent Blood
3) Bad Taste
4) House Movies (1&2)
5) Green Slime (almost made top 5)

Top 5 Embarrassed list:
1) Mystery Men
2) Fright Night movies (1&2)
3) Original El Mariachi
4) Barbarella
5) Any of the Sinbad movies from '58 - '78

5 Biggest disappointments:
1) Sucker the Vampire
2) Buttcrack
3) Toxic Avenger (2&3)
4) War of the Planets (and War of the Androids) Cool covers, bad movies . . . to the point of using same scenes in both movies
5) Carnival of Souls (I had expected so much more, should have let Roger Corman film this one)

What are yours?

Rob

raj

Blade Runner (director's cut)
The Man Who Would be King
Brazil (director's cut)
The Last Waltz
Barbarella
(what do you mean embarrassing)

Not really disappointed in any of the onesI have, picking up Creatures, starring Klaus Kinski for $5.88, I kinda figure what I'm getting into.

Ones I deny owning, cause I don't.  Really. Honestly.  Or at least I hide when mom comes to visit.
Showgirls
Embrace of the Vampire
Penthouse dvd (they're all pretty much similar)
Tori Welles porn flick.

Chadzilla

Top 5 on the shelf

1. Jaws - My favorite movie of all time, I just wish it had the two hour version of the making of documentary.
2. Maniac - Anchor Bay's Limited Edition Tin.  Whoa.
3. The Beyond - Limited Edition Tin from Anchor Bay
4. Shock Waves
5. The Swarm

Honorable Mentions

1. Tourist Trap
2. Trancers
3. The Car

Wish List
1. Day of the Dead - I cannot wait for the 2 disc set.
2. Dead & Buried - A forgotten cult classic, getting the Deluxe treatment from Blue Underground.
3. Hallowen - The 2 disc 25th Anniversary disc
4. The Evil Dead - Book of the Dead Edition
5. The Crazies
6. The Hills Have Eyes - "You fat.  Baby fat.  Fat and juicy!"

I do not want the geeks to know I own this...

1. Flashdance - It's for the wife, honest.
2. My Best Friend's Wedding - Ditto

Disappointments

1. House by the Cemetary - I got the Diamond Release, last one from them I'll get.
2. The Giant Gila Monster/The Killer Shrews - The first Diamond DVD I got, a real let down.
3. The Creeps - While it's dumb fun, they did not letterbox the movie and it's 2:35:1.  Creeps.
4. Frankenhooker - No trailer?  That trailer was a riot!  Funnier than the movie...wait a minute.

The Burgomaster

Following Chadzilla's format, here is my DVD list:

Top 5 on the shelf

1. The Godfather (trilogy)
2. Taxi Driver ("You talkin' to me?")
3. This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse (Coffin Joe!)
4. The Wages of Fear (one of the most suspenseful movies ever made)
5. Fiddler on the Roof (a great musical)

Honorable Mentions

1. At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul (more Coffin Joe!)
2. Mean Streets (a forgotten Martin Scorsese classic)
3. The Wild Bunch (a Sam Peckinpah classic)
4. Ms.45 (an early Abel Ferrara thriller)
5. The Undertaker and His Pals (gore/comedy, similar to many H.G. Lewis films)

Wish List
1. Dawn of the Dead (I have it on VHS - awaiting the big DVD blockbuster release)
2. Pink Flamingos (I also have this on VHS - need the DVD)
3. Deranged (I have the uncut version on VHS - I was going to buy the DVD double feature with Motel Hell until I found out that Deranged was the theatrical version, not the uncut version)
4. The Friends of Eddie Coyle (where the hell is this movie!)
5. Rolling Thunder (nice little drive in "revenge" movie with William Devane and Tommy Lee Jones - where the hell is this movie!)

I do not want the geeks to know I own this...

1. Engelbert Humperdinck (concert)
2. The Winner Takes it All (ABBA documentary)

Disappointments

1. Cross of Iron (the damned DVD from Hen's Tooth Video is FULL FRAME and the quality is about the same as a VHS tape)
2. Slap Shot 2 (a truly terrible sequel to a very funny movie - it stars a Baldwin brother, so what do you expect?)
3. The Manster (not as fun to watch as it was when I was a kid)
4. Blood of Ghastly Horror (full frame - and much of the time the actors are OUTSIDE the frame, so all you see are their noses)
5. The Boy in the Plastic Bubble (this could also fall under my "I don't want anyone to know I own this" list - the DVD is from the old Dimension DVD company - the worst picture quality I have ever seen - it looks like they took a 5th generation dupe of a washed out VHS tape recorded in the EP mode off a television with rabbit ear antennas and burned it onto a disc)

sure the authoring is bad, sure the packaging is even worse, sure it tries to prompt a non-existant subtitle track at the beginning, sure the movie ends with a blue screen stating that it was mastered from a laserdisc - but it's SEVEN DOLLARS.  what the hell do you want for seven dollars?  on the upside, it's more graphic than all previous u.s. versions (until anchor bay's release - which is 'uncut').  i love me that movie, if i'm ever attacked by a bat, i now know what not to do.

Has been put on hold.  Seems there are some rights issues on the Argento edit that need ironing out.  Same thing happened with the Godzilla 1985 disc, which has been put on hold until AB gets the rights to the Japanese Godzilla 1984 (The Return of Godzilla), which seems not the be forthcoming anytime soon.  Dang it.

Why are you embarrassed about #3, 4, and 5?  You should be proud of them!  And even the first FRIGHT NIGHT movie!
"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

The Burgomaster

Embarrassed (this list is off the top of my head . . . I probably have worse ones than these if I think about it longer):

* XANADU
* ABBA: THE MOVIE
* LEGALLY BLONDE 2
* THE WORLD'S GREATEST LOVER
* GROWING UP BRADY
"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."
