He was the only level-headed person in the group. Ben was a hot-headed,self centered jerk,especially in the remake. Cooper spent the whole movie trying to talk sense to everyone while Ben gave them the foolish idea of "boarding up the house". Ben thought he was all tough runnin' around stickin' guns in everyone's face but he didn't scare Cooper. Then Ben wanted to take the door the little girl was sleeping on and make the poor sick little girl sleep on the cold cellar floor! Then Ben broke the tv and blamed it on Cooper,saying he was "gonna take it in the basement",when everyone knows you can't get any reception in the basement. What a dickhead! Last but not least ben tries to muder Cooper's daughter,then he shoots cooper,but cooper shows him who the real toughguy is when he pops a couple caps in his jive talkin' ass! Then there was that trigger happy Barbara,who was shooting blindly at anything that moved and wasting all the ammo,Cooper showed that he was a true hero when he took the gun from that psycho b***h before she shot everyone dead and alive! Then  after all the lives he saves the dumb broad kills him! Cooper was the hero,the rest were a bunch of yo-yo's! BUNCH OF F**KING  YO-YO'S!

Go buy a copy of the original NOTLD and watch it.  I promise you that you will think differently about all the characters especially Barbara.

Sure, he was both, but he was pretty scared, too. Abject fear definitely magnifies these things in a person. In the remake, it was Barbara that turned out to be the logical one.

I dont know why you posted this on a bad movie forum where we all think clearly and sharelaughter and pain with eachother, NOTLD isn't a bad movie. It may be a B movie which has some context here that we all enjoy but it is not  a bad movie.

For you to enter this forum and be an over critical angry lunatic freaking out about a 35 year old movie or its 13 year old remake is beyond me.
