Well, I got a chance to finally see the first trailer for the new film Freddy vs Jason, which opens Aug 15. Im amazed that they didn't ask Kane Hodder to reprise his role as Jason Vorhees. Still what I got to see from this movie so far looks pretty good.  I just hope that thismovie lives up to the hype considering we have been waiting for it for a long time now. I just want to see who finally is the true Slasher master. Comment on this topic anytime.

YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING.  CAN THERE BE ANYTHING MORE LAME THAN "FREDDY VS. JASON"?  WHO REALLY WANTS TO SEE THIS?  DOES ANYONE CARE?  HOLLYWOOD NEEDS NEW IDEAS FOR HORROR MOVIES, NOT A BOGUS REHASH OF CHARACTERS THAT WERE INTERESTING 20 YEARS AGO!  WHAT'S NEXT, "ALIEN VS. MICHAEL MYERS"????  GET REAL.

Dave

You've got to be kidding me...this is your arguement for not liking this film....give me a break!  Lets offer a little more constructive criticism before jumping on a movie.  And furthermore...it hasn't even been released..how do you know it won't be decent.  what kind of movie person are you!

I wasn't aware it was that close to being released. With all of the delays in getting Jason X into theatres, I wasn't holding my breath.

Hard to say who will win, but I'm a little worried about a cop-out ending that attempts to satisfy everyone with a stalemate.

If it were up to me, I'd say Jason should win. He's not a good guy, but he at least started out as an innocent victim. Freddy was always the bad guy. Jason also seems like more of a mindless killing machine, while Freddy obviously relishes what he does. Still, neither one should probably be triumphant. I mean, you can't just have everyone let Jason lumber off into the night like Godzilla. It would make the most sense if Jason pulls a Darth Vader, and sacrifices himself to beat Freddy. Be nice to see what they ended up doing.

Even more interesting will be seeing how they bring these two characters together.

My only real concern is that horror movies have changed since the 80s, and this will fail to really capture what the fans remember.

I just hope it plays where I can see it. Movies like this often get the short end of the stick. It's the old self-fulfilling prophecy. They'll give it a limited release with no fanfare, and lo and behold, it won't do particularly well.

Oh, and Movieguy, on this board we respect each other, or we get booted off. Just some friendly advice. And take off your caps lock.

Exactly. Let the film get released before anyone slags it off.

I'm sure the film-makers are aware of the situation of these two 80's slasher kings getting it on. As long as its tongue is firmly wedged in its cheek it should be a good laugh if nothing else.

I'll wait until rental or it comes on TV (be it Starz or HBO, since those seem to be the only two networks that show "Friday the 13th" movies). I'm not too big a fan of either series, with Nightmare getting the slight nod because Freddy's so damn badass, but if it's half as entertaining as Jason X was, I'll dig it.

why are you on the forum if you dont like these 2 B movies series? sure half of the movies in each series suck but some are quite good.  What kind of a guy is this? he's a knuckleknob

I would like to thank all of you for your comments. Keep up the greeat work on this great site.

This is one movie that I am kinda looking forward to coming out.

Two good horror slashers right there together in one movie.

To say who would win is gonna be tough because-
     1. Jason is almost like invincible and full of inhuman strength
     2. Freddy can jump in and out of dreams with no problem where he seems to
gain from the nightmare he creates.

However I think if they were to put a surprise in with this movie and bring in Micheal Myers- hands down I would pick him as the winner overall. He is evil personified in true form.

Again this is just what I think but I am sure when the movie comes out we all will know the answer.

Respect is very important on this board and some should try to learn that the easy way instead of the hard way.

Sure. They could stop the movie at the climax and a CGI William Castle could come on and ask everyone to vote by holding up their cards  :)

I have yet to see a Nightmare film, nor have I seen the first Friday film, but I know quite a bit about both characters. I will take up what Movie guy says and say that a little more thought could have been put into this.

Does Jason even sleep, I dont think so, that would make the movie a little lamer if he never napped.....

Plus, they are so different andoperate on different planes.

I would prefer to see Freddy vs. the demons from Hellraiser,

Or Jason go toe to toe with the nigh invincible Myers from Halloween.

Now that would be a slasher.... I will still be seeing this movie however, it cant hurt.

That's going to be the interesting part - seeing how they get Freddy and Jason into the same movie. Really, these are the two characters I'd most like to see. When the slasher craze was at its peak, it was Jason, Freddy and the rest, as far as I was concerned. Not that I didn't like the others. I watched all the Hellraisers and Halloweens, but Jason and Freddy were the big boys.
