Titanic, The abomination

Silly thing, but quite funny if you think about it. I was recently in a supermarket and I noticed several DVDs beside the counter. They all were cheap Disney knock-offs, remakes of unidentificable origin of Disney's greatest hits ("Tarzan", "Pinocchio", Beauty and the beast"), but for one, a "Titanic" animated version. I think it was this one: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330994/

Well, so I check the cover and it explains a sinopsys incredibly similar to the on of James Cameron's version, give or take a couple of talking animals, and then I read the last line of it, that said something like: "But such  story deserves a happy ending". Of course they probably mean that none of the main characters dies on the shipwreck, but somehow I imagined a completely different thing, a "Titanic" movie where the ship never sinks or even hits an iceberg, like in those awful, skimmed revisions of tales for children. Can you imagine such an abomination? LOL! I did for several seconds, and, believe me, it wasn't pretty.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

I'd like to see a version of TITANIC where the movie BEGINS with the ship sinking . . . then, for the next 2 1/2 hours, we see a drama about all the lawsuits that people file afterward.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Even if just the main characters survive, a Titanic story with a happy ending is not something kids should be watching.

"The ship sank, most of the passengers died... but the characters we know are all right! Woo hoo!"

Tell me that's not a messed up message to be giving kids. I won't even go into the whole issue of messing with history to make it suit an audience.

I THINK RMEMBERING THE TITANIC INCIDENT AT ALL IS FOOLISH. 20 TO 40 MILLION PEOPLE DIED IN THE SPANISH INFLUENZA PANDEMIC IN 1918. COMPARE THAT TO AROUND 1500 DEATHS IN THE SINKING OF THE TITANIC 6 YEARS EARLIER.

My Dad's fond of this quote from Stalin (just to show how warped Stalin was)

One death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic.
