I love horror films that use the Southwest. One of my favorite little films is IT CAME FROM BEYOND SPACE. It's not filmed in Texas, but the atmosphere of the desert is great for Horror films.

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE was actually filmed in Georgia. Watched a docu-film called TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: A Family Portrait. They told all the details of the making of this film. You might still be able to find a copy of this on VHS. I rented a copy from Blockbuster one year.

I always mess up my post. Forgive me the film with desert atmosphere is IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE.
