Hi everyone!

This is my first time posting on this forum so please be gentle... ; ) I for one, absoloutely love B-flicks, especially Killer Klowns From Outer Space.

Anyhow, the reason as to why I am posting this message is because I am currently seeking local talent to work on an independent film that I'm producing. It's not a horror flick but it very well could be considered a B-flick. :)

This project will involve the teaming up of two production companies; Dramatic Imagery & Sound 'N' Fury Productions in Tucson, AZ. We will be placing an ad in the paper for auditions.

Currently seeking: Actors, Actresses, Artists, Graphic Artists, Fx-make-up dabblers and professionals welcome. We have aquired a small budget but we are also looking into potential investors so all work will be "pro-bono"  for now.

Looking forward to hearing from you! Thank you for your time...

Don't have any talent info for you, but do you go to U of A?  My friend is transferring from Scotsdale Community College to go to film school there.

If you do, any info?  Is it good?
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Sounds interesting Velvet Brotha. I was just out in Tucson last spring. Loved it ! How are you going to distribute this film? Where is the return money coming from (if your expecting any)? Investors might want to know. What kind of equipment are you working with presently? What fun it would be to be on the creative end of the film business. Unfortunately time and money both ruin and create many good things in life.  A good director can get something good within the boundries of time and money. Of course it would provide quite an engaging challenge.

Nobody in film seems to be able to totally be responsible for the success of any film. Total creative control is almost imposible. Hope you find the right people to help put together something interesting.

Hey Mofo! : )

Thanks for the info! No, unfortunately I do not attend the U of A. I graduated from the Art Center Design College a few  years back.  Please tell your friend to look me up if he's really interested in helping out.  Thanks again!

So you like Tucson eh? I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit.

Wow, so many questions..... Sound & Fury has a distribution department called "Purple Hero" distribution, so our current movie deal has that written in the contract. All aspects of production will be handled by both our companies.

We are currently going through all the pre-production phases discussing a possible local screening, broadcasting and even a DVD release with lots of neat little extras. : ) "All I can say is that no company that I've ever heard of has offered what we're going to sell with our DVDs."

We are planning to shoot it as a full length DV feature, using DVC-pro cameras.
(Both our companies own a 35 mm & 16 mm camera, however we agreed that it would eat up most of the budget.)

So far, we've completed recording most of the sound tracks in S&F's studio. J.T. Waldson, one of the owners of S&F will be the Director of Photography on this film and intends to cut the whole thing together on a screaming fast G-5. "It's really nice... kinda reminds me of a big cheese grater." : ) Oh yeah, I'll be Directing this film along with my friend and co-writer (partner in crime...he, he, he) : Chris Wheatley. We are both film buffs and we will try our very best to make this film a success, but only time will tell. I will try to provide more details as the production continues.

Thanks again for the kind response!

Wow, sounds like you people are the real deal. Sounds like fun.

Scott

What is the name of your film Velvet Brotha? What's the subject matter?

Velvet Brotha

Yeah, we're definitely phsyched over the progress and we hope to get the green light to start  filming.

You assume correctly that we are the real deal. I understand that now days almost anyone can pretty much make a film. However, we have been blessed with the ability to produce high end productions. I use to work as an Art Director for East West Media , producing commercials.

I'm not saying that all this means that  we'll be better than other film makers. We're just going to give it a shot and hope for the best. : )

Sorry Scott...I can't really share any details regarding the subject matter. All I can say is that it's a different kind of crime film. Our current working title is: "Black Industry" So far, the response to the title has been very positive, aside from a couple of comments about the title sounding like a porn flick. ; ) Oh well, I guess we'll just have to see....

Well, I'm damn sure supportive of efforts like this, though living in Longmont, Colorado, I tend to accept projects like this closer to home.
Sounds really cool -- I hope you give us updates on the board here.
SUSAN:  Do you recall your previous thread about wanting to work in a B-movie/horror movie?  And I said to just look around, as someone is making one somewhere?  This would be an example of what I meant.
Currently, I'm doing tech for a live musical stage production of "Big".  Parts of it could qualify as horror . . . don't ask . . .
Velvet Brotha:  You go, man!  Great that you've paid some attention to the businesss end of things.  I've been part of too many projects that died because all the effort went into creation and production and nobody gave any thought to the distribution/money/commerce end of things.

Peter,

I'm sure that Brotha would love your support, but I'm afraid he was banned a while back.

Oh, crap!   I didn't even look at the dates on the posts there --
Boy, is my face red . . . as Emo Philips said in UHF . . .
What happened?  Why was he banned, not to rehash old material too much . . .

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. But I thought it was a tempoary ban because I swear Velvat Brotha made a post about two weeks later, so I've been assuming he just moved on out of this board. Oh yeah, the topic which eventually lead to his banning is rather scary and a rather sad topic to bring up.

So somebody else can fill you in with the details I don't feel like typing it up.
