OT: Prison b***h Saddam! (I wish)

It's my understanding - and I may be wrong, but this is what I heard - that that Major was heavily involved in cracking the intel that led them to Saddam's location.   The grunts, long tired of wild goose chases from inferior intel, were probably more than happy to let him step in and claim some credit even though he wasn't a door-kicker.  Contrary to what you see in bad war movies, the grunts in real life know how important their non-comatant support is and are very grateful when it is good.
