Ellie

A foot bath. A $25 Barnes & Noble gift certificate. A tin of Fudge. A pair of crystal votives. And last but not least a hangover. Merry Christmas everyone!

Deej

2 books(The Encyclopedia of Western Lawmen & Outlaws and a biography of Billy The Kid), a pretty cool pair of shoes, a new pocket knife and 20 hrs of old radio programs on tape. No hangover as we celebrated Christmas at my parents' house and I was DD. However I suspect I also got the flu, courtesy of my cousin's kid. Not a bad haul. And I got to see some family I haven't seen in over a decade. Pretty cool Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day was spent at the house watching movies. I didn't get to pick any of the movies.  So, of course, they all sucked(not in a good way).

Everyone has potentially fatal flaws, but yours involve a love of soldiers' wives, an insatiable thirst for whiskey, and the seven weak points in your left ventricle.

While on a journey, Chuang Tzu found an old skull, dry and parched.
With sorrow, he questioned and lamented the end of all things.
When he finished speaking, he dragged the skull over and, using it for a pillow, lay down to sleep.
In the night, the skull came to his dreams and said, 'You are a fool to rejoice in the entanglements of life.'
Chuang Tzu couldn`t believe this and asked, 'If I could return you to your life, you would want that, wouldn`t you?'
Stunned by Chuang Tzu`s foolishness, the skull replied, 'How do you know that it is bad to be dead?'

Congrats!!!  That's the best kind of present - one you did not expect.  Good luck with the new job.

I got to see my newborn nephew for the first time. I got to lock myself out of my hotel room..again. I got my arm stuck behind the entertainment center when my tv didn't work and i was trying to move the plug to another socket (but that's another story) I got to eat chinese eggrolls and an orange on christmas eve from the hotel lobby downstairs (which apparently had one staff member that nite who didn't want to cook) I also got a cold.

But I also got:
DVD's: Moulin Rouge, The Thing

Games: Upwards

Candy: a whole lotta jelly bellys & a box of chocolate covered coffee beans

A really cool rich red throw made in india that I feel like royalty when i wrap myself in it :). I also got a pencil holder type container that is deep red with dragons on it and a pouch of the same - this person knows my taste!

AMC movie gift card

More gift cards to Kohls and foley's(you cannot go wrong giving me gift cards!)

small bottle of wine

And I can always count on a certain family member to get me the present which  for 10+ years straight has held the coveted title for "what the hell?!"
A jean shirt..with a pink poodle on it. Considering i never wear stuff like that and I'm not trailer trash..i can never figure it out.  C'mon people, i know most of you got a 'what the ..#@#?" gift - what was it?

But it was a good one, sounds like everyone here had a good one as well. I wish it wasn't over, I always get depressed when the excitement of christmas is over and it's time to tear down the lights and start another dreaded year

The Burgomaster

I got a mixture of clothes, gift certificates, chocolates, scratch tickets, money, etc.  My wife and I bought the big gift together a couple of weeks ago: a Nordic Track treadmill.  I use it every morning while I'm reading the sports section of the Boston Globe.

I also involved myself in a few presents that I bought for other people:

* I bought my parents a slot machine (which I have already used a few times);
* I bought my father a ticket to go to ESPN 2 Friday Night Boxing at the Mohegan Sun casino (the other ticket is for me);
* I used some of my American Express rewards points to get my parents a $100 gift certificate to the Capital Grille (I also got a $100 gift certificate for my wife and me, so that we can all go together);
* I bought my nephews tickets to see the Thunder Nationals Monster Truck Races (and a ticket for me to go with them);
* I also bought my nephews tickets to see the play OLIVER! (and tickets for my wife and me to go with them).

So, as you can see, Christmas is a selfish time for me . . .

On the subject, I recieved The Stuff, Faster Blade Poisonous Darts, Legend of the Liquid Sword, Creepshow, Brentwood's Legends of Kung Fu, and Brentwood's Dead Time Stories.  However the real gem wasn't a B-Movie; it's a book called: The Zombie Survival Guide, complete protection from the living dead, by Max Brooks.
