What's with the Sci-fi channel, and airing constant new bug movies? I swear the new one features models from Gary Jones's Mosquito or Bug Buster with Randy Quaid. Not sure, but looks familiar. But what's with all the bug movies? They just showed one called They Crawl like 2 weeks ago. I don't think I'm going to bother. The name of the movie is...Skeeter. Isn't that the guy from Saved by the Bell or something? Not really sure, never really watched that show. But what the hell?

At least they are showing Jim Wynorski's Curse of the Komodo soon. It will be edited but it would be fun to see the first ever zombie/giant lizard/bank robber flick ever? I'll be sure to pick up the DVD when it comes out in April or May which features the nudity and gore and language.

I don't care about all the negative stuff I've heard about Curse of the Komodo.  Everyone over at Creature Corner was real stoked about it until it was announced it'd premiere on Sci Fi.  Like everyone didn't already know it was going to, right?  There is no possible way a movie with a description like that can be all bad.  I'll be there with bells on.

There are only two important things in life - monsters and hot chicks.

Rape is just cause for murdering.

I caught some of Mosquito one day on Sci-Fi and thought it was a fun movie. The scene I saw was when they are being chased in the camper by very large mosquitos. I would like to see more filmmaking like that.

I've been seeing the ad for Skeeter and one shot they show of one of the mosquitoes look exactly like the bug from Mosquito.  You do know that Gunnar Hansen of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the bad guys in Mosquito.

I just watched one of the cheapies last night on SciFi called Dark Waters with that Lamas guy in it.  It had good looking submarine sets,  but cheezy CG sharks. One scene I liked at the beginning of the film showed two guys in deep sea gear working on this undersea pumping station and THERE WAS NO WATER! They blowing something around in the air to make it look like bubbles and stuff floating around in the water, but they were obviously on a sound stage.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

"Skeeter" was the name of Doug's best friend in the Nickelodeon/Disney cartoon DOUG. The Nickelodeon episodes (first two seasons) were awesome, but the Disney one ruined the show by trying to make it more serious than it needed to be. The SAVED BY THE BELL character you are thinking of is "Screech," real name Dustin Diamond.

And I chat now and then with a SBTB fanatic, so that's how I know this.

And as the world began crumbling down
Nobody around seemed to care

For those who don't know, Skeeter isn't new, it was made in 1993 and has been playing on the premium cable channels for years . I don't see anyone listed in the cast who was in SBTB.

Oh his name is Screech...

So how is "Skeeter" the movie, if it is an old one?

And it only got like a 2.3 at Imdb.com so I gotta watch it now!

The only person stoked about it over at Creature Corner was me. In case you didn't notice the byline, I wrote all of those articles. The reason for the negativity about it debuting on the Sci-Fi Channel is because the Sci-Fi Channel has become synonymous with absolute crap. Can you name 3 Sci-Fi Channel Saturday night premiere movies that didn't completely suck? You'll have a hard enough time just naming one. Another reason for the negativity is that I heard from someone who knows someone who worked on the film who has seen the final cut and said its absolutely horrible and the Komodos themselves only have about 5 minutes of scream time. Still, I'll be tuned in but I've pretty much resolved myself to the fact that it probably won't even be fun bad.

Personally, I'm crossing my fingers that SNAKEHEAD TERROR will at least be fun bad. Coincidentally, I also wrote the Creature Corner piece on that movie a few days ago.

The majority of movies produced for the Sci-Fi Channel are announced ahead of time and I never saw anything mentioning the Sci-Fi Channel premiere regarding CURSE OF THE KOMODO. It certainly sounded like something that would be shown on the network but I was hoping it would at the very least go to video first.

Ohhh man, I really dug that movie. It's one of those flicks where you get cheap thrills from watching a 400lb. insect suck a man dry. (Hmmm, come to think of it, I just described my x-girlfriend. ; ) ) Anyhow, Skeeter is great!
