GOTHIKA (2003) - This film is like a mixture of prison/horror film. The prison element using Halle Berry and Penelope Cruz and a spirit of a dead girl who haunts them. Better than I was expecting, but not the greatest. It also had elements of THE EYE and THE RING in its film style.

My brother, my mother and I all saw it in theaters and we like it. Good weird movie. Though my mom and brother pointed out a bunch of stuff that didn't make sense. I don't mean horror stuff I mean realistic stuff.

*spoilers*
(the woman should have gone to jail also, even if her husband killed women instead they don't do anything to her.) 3/5

I didn't care for the film in the least.  My wife loved it, which is usually the case with Dark Castle films.

The script wasn't tight enough, plot holes abound throughout the flick.  And why did Halle follow up her oscar win with this film?

A rental, at least.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

OK film, considering it was made by Dark Castle. The camerawork by Mathieu Kassovits is flashy and adequately creepy, but it can't hide the plot thefts from every genre movie since "The sixth sense" or how inplausible everything seems at the end. Still, a good rental.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

We rented it...not really terrible but not that great either.  In the end it turns into a pretty standard thriller--the supernatural stuff is mainly a plot device for the typical whodunit elements.

I heard this film borrowed quite a bit from Suspiria.  Does it? I generally enjoy Dark Castle movies, but Halle Berry gets on my nerves like no one else, so I have no inclination to spend five bucks for a rental when I could get a ticket to Hellboy instead.

I can't think of anything offhand from Suspiria, but I haven't seen Suspiria in a while.
There might be some shots and things I didn't notice, but nothing as far as the story.

I'd say this one is a wait for cable...it just didn't do much for me.

Mr_Vindictive

Didn't see anything even remotely related to Suspiria.

I don't know why, but this film really really really really irrated me.

I thought it was alright.  I was glad I didn't pay for it when I went to see it, but it's not horrible or anything.

There are, however, plot holes you can drive a truck through.  Correction:  That you can drive a fully combat-loaded M1A1 Main Battle Tank through.

It would have been better served by either playing down or playing up the supernatural.  It turned into a poor thriller at the end, with one of the most implausible villian deaths I have seen in a while.
