Reality TV...or should I say s**ty-Ass TV!!!

I'm really tired of seeing all these stupid Tv Shows that don't have an inch of reality to it. Sure it's funny seeing people making an ass of themselves, but dang don't we see that everyday!

The Plot to most of these Shows??? Oh well just put "REAL" people(which all look like they belong in a magazine cover) with other "REAL" people and see if they'll f**k on TV!!! If people want that(and they do) just go rent some porn.

Example: The Real World, Las Vegas.
What was the plot of that show? Put them in the HOt tub and give them a lot of beer and hide a condom here or there(opps found a condom in my soup...might as well use it!) and let everything go from there!

Some, and I mean SOME.....like a few, like two or three are not that bad. NOt that bad, meaning, I can actually  watch them

Another thing is all those home make over or people make-over shows!! I hate those shows! They always seem to go to the NICE house. Bulls**t. GO to the Urdan places......that really need a makeover!!!

I can go on and on, but the simple life is on tonight!!!

hahahhaha GOT CHA!!

Actually, I like the idea of reality TV... I just don't think they're using it the right way on the right people.

Reality TV ought to feature celebrities being sent to live under whichever regimes and political viewpoints they ostensibly support. Has the celebrity in question been a big supporter for Palestine? Then off to a hovel in a Palestinian town she goes, with a TV crew in tow. Hungry children in Africa? To Africa he goes to live among those children. (Here's hoping the TV crew brings lots of food--they're going to need it.) Is the celebrity a Marxist? Then off to North Korea, Cuba, or the Marxist state of her choice she goes, to live in a "workers' paradise" with the rest of the workers. He likes natives of the Andes mountains? Then this year, his vacation will be to the Andes to live as the natives there live.

The fun of this is that it would separate the wheat from the chaff. Those who really are in favor of what they ostensibly support would have a wonderful time, while those who support these things for others but not for themselves would suffer accordingly for the amusement of us all.

Reality TV is bulls**t.  I can't help but watch it, but it is all full of crap.  Half the shows are even staged.

Producer: "Sorry people, that wasn't REAL enough, let's do it again, but make it more dramatic!  I want to see nails people, NAILS!"

And don't get me started on the 'subtle' product placement!

I LIKE that idea!
Put up, or shut up, you rich spoiled children!
And quit carping about how bad things are here, when you have no real basis of comparison!
Bloviating blowhards....Arghhh!

I'm really unimpressed with the makeover shows, especially the ones advertising extreme transformations.

I'll admit I gave in to curiosity and watched The Swan. The idea of surgically transforming ugly chicks into beauty queens was sick, yet intriguing. From what I could see, they take women who aren't especially ugly, and turn them into women who aren't especially beautiful, transforming somewhat plain into kind of attractive. Waste of time, if you ask me. Also kind of sad to watch the genuine self-esteem problems these women had, and the really distorted view they had of themselves, sometimes fed by the shallow people around them. They needed counseling, not a makeover. This is based on watching once, of course, but I doubt it gets any better.

Reality TV has its place, but television is saturated with it and the shows keep getting dumber and dumber.  Like everything else, the fad will pass, and television producers will move onto something else.  Twenty years from now, we can all sit around and watch a nostalgic TV special called "I Remember Reality TV."  It will include video clips from all of the crappy reality shows and interviews with the aging producers, hosts, and guests.  We will all watch this TV special and say, "How could we POSSIBLY have been entertained by that.  And look at the ridiculous clothes and hairstyles!"

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Then switch over to something even worse that will be all the rage.

Worse?  Gaaa, I didn't think that's possible. Oh wait, poker is now popular -- that's got to be more boring than golf.

I haven't watched any "reality" tv, not even the original Survivor or Big Brother.    One reason the networks like the reality shows is they save on costs -- like for instance, writers!  That definitely shows.  I prefer actors acting out a story.

Reality TV is staged and dramatized up the ying yang. If you really want "reality" film people who dont know they're on camera. But then again that would be unconstitutional..

I will admit that I watch the poker games on TV.  I LOVE to play golf, though to sit and watch for a long period of time is not easy to do without becoming very sleepy.

"Survivor" is actually so putrid on every level, that all the crap that's ripped off from it has been a slight improvement. Every time they go back to that well, they're forced to use a TINY bit more imagination, and come up with something that at least concievably could be somewhat entertaining, if they tweak it enough, like "Sureal Life". How about a show that's like what they made "Survivor" out to be originally? Like some people surviving? Put them on an island, don't give them anything. They're free to leave at any time, they just don't win anything that way. Maybe a doctor checks them out every week or so, kicks them off if they're dehydrated or anything. On this show, if they eat rats, it won't be because someone dared them to, it'll be because it's the survival strategy they've opted for.

Reality tv isn't real anymore because it's not novel. When something is new, ndiscovered country, you're going to get more REAL people becuase they dont' even know if anyone is watching.

Because nearly all reality shows seem to be highly popular at some point, the people who end up on those shows are picked because they are unique, outspoken, willing to do anything..and often not REAL people. They are struggling actors hoping that this will be their stepping stone in getting seen on tv and getting more acting jobs.

I can't stand reality shows, but I will admit that I watched "The Littlest Groom"- the one with the little people.

I'm not proud of my decision, but I'll fess up to it.

I haven't watched any lately, but I like that Obnoxious Wedding and MTV has a show called Boiling Point that is sometimes fun. The original Candid Camera was the best of the reality shows

I'm not a fan of reality shows, most are high concpet game shows. And anything that  involves putting everyone in a big house together just bores me now. I used to be a fan of "The Real World" when I was younger, but quit watching around the  time of the Hawaii one, too much Teck and everyone coddling Ruthie the drunk. I know the "story editors" edit all the hours of tape to create stories and shape the "characters", but those people got irritating.

What turned me off "Last Comic Standing" was putting them in a house just like other shows. I know it works for the producers, being able to control the environment and being based in one main location; but since comedians have to tour in real life to make a living wouldn't it be more fun to see the same group slogging from show to show together on a tour getting on each others nerves while dealing with life on the road as well? Less opportunity for stupid contests and challenges as well.

I hate stuff like "Boiling Point" and the various prank shows, I've never liked the whole "humor by annoyance" concept. I even hated "Candid Camera" reruns as a kid, between the pranks and Alan Funt's smarmy "isn't great how we harrassed these people for your amusement" routine. I love the fact that his son was sued ( along with others) for that airport security gag, serves him right when the guy wondered outt loud if he was "Candid Camera" and Funt kept the gag going.

Besides as the gags get more elaborate, the more convinced I am that they are staged. The episodes of "Spy TV" I saw looked very faked in my opinion.
