Everybody knows about Doom, right? One of, if not the most infamous/famous videogames ever released, and a truly revolutionary one at that.

Well then. I have got an idea for a follow up. It is:

DOOM: RESURRECTION

PLOT:
Several hundred years after the Mars Gateway incident, experiments are being conducted on the Gateways on a small, desolate world; RK:992-PO3. The experiments are being conducted deep underground, with a small mining colony up on the surface. When a dust storm springs up, the contact is tempoarilly cut off. However, officials begin to worry when they discover that the comms do not start back up after the storm ends.

Beginning to panic, the ECG requests the Special Armed Rennaisance Service to send out an investigative team. Naturally, this is a tight -knit group of heavilly armed soldiers. Among the soldiers are a group of scientists to recover any findings at the base in case of the ECG's fears coming true.

The team is split up into two groups: each has 26 soldiers, and approx. 8 scientists. When they land on the planet, no-one greets them. The first team enters.

About seven hours later, the first team has not called in. The second team, starting to worry, sends in twelve soldiers. Shortly after coming in, they find the bodies of five soldiers: all are mutillated and dead. The investigative group calls in for more men, leaves two to guard the bodies, and goes deeper into the base...

When the team finally gets to the Gateway test room, they have no idea that it has happened again, nor do they know what will happen.

The Gateway has opened a portal to hell.

And its about to get a whole lot freakier...

Well, what do you think? Does it sound good?

It sounds very cookie-cutter. I think I've seen the movie you've described several different times...

Why would an Electro-Cardio-Gram panic?

Imagine all of the gore from George A. Romero's zombie trilogy, the RetarDEAD trailer deaths, and other gory nonsense and you've got the first twenty minutes of Team 2's arrival in the colony. (Also features a man becoming a human pin-cushion because of energy pulse shattering a glass pane)

Keep writing. No original plot, flat characters, and predictable. If you play this off as a sci-fi/horror film, who won't  guess that Team B is getting slaughtered?

plus, where's the tacked on romanitc sub plot, the bad ass who endangers everyone's life at least twice, and the moral dilemma between killing a dangerous new species yet to be studied by science? WHERE??

EXTENSION TO PLOT:

As soon as the group form Team 2 enters, everything seems normal. Imagine the Mary Celeste on a colony. as they progress deeper (into landing bay three) they find a small outpost of Team 1. There are five there, and they say that they were just on guard. Nothing has happened, they don't think anthing is wrong, because a total sweep of the colony would take at least sixteen hours. The group form Team 2 are slightly p**sed and want to go back, but their commander ( Cpl. Lewlynd) presses on.

The then come to a place where the dust storm knocked out power. One of the marines hacks into the mainframe; the Aux.power just went off. They switch on the second Auxiliary power tank and they see a dead person on the floor. He isn't a marine. Cpl. Lewlynd leaves two marines to guard the body (Asdael and Salazar) and goes in deeper.

They find an area that is built into a mountain (Because of the high temperatures, most of the colony is built into a mountain chain) and discover a testing room for the Gateways. They look at the experiment records and it reveals that tests were going exellently; they were teleporting things from Earth over to RK:992-PO3. Even people. They then discove rthat the Gateway is connected to main power.

Meanwhile, up in the hallway with the dead person, Asdael goes off in search of the Main Power Generator. Salazar stays with the body.As he is preoccupied, he doesn't realise that the body is twitching lightly.

Asdael finds the main power and switches it on. The Gateway comes on, pulses, and shatters all glass in the area (counting out scopes on rifles)and all the marines duck. When the get back up, they discover that  Vernon has been filled with glass.

Up in the hallway, the main power causes the lights to explode. Salazar switches on his light and the "dead" man stands up. He screams that "his chest is on fire"hen he suddenly rips open his chest and something bursts out to hit Salazar in the face. (Think the parasites from "Unknown Origin")

Gotta go. Be back soon.

Scott H, thanks for the suggestion. Well, technically they don't get slaughtered. They simply mutate into some very freaky s**t. Only four of the marines are"killed". The rest are possesed.

One of the monsters is a Shrieker. It has three mandibles for a lower jaw and makes a high-pitched shriek to disorient people. It then kills them. The shriek is powerful enough to shatter glass and rupture eardrums.

What do you think?

Cheecky-Monkey

No offense but that's a strickingly familiar plot, why not try something different?

Jack Corbett

It is suppsed to be a follow-up to the videogame Doom. The only reason that it is being done on that planet is because thaey don't want another incident happening on a heavilly populated world.

Plus, the group of Team 2 is almost wiped by some of the monsters/demons and they radio in for help. The rest of them come in and then the colony is locked down: Nothing gets in, nothing gets out. Simple.

Plus, its either a movie or a game.

And did you notice that Special Armed Rennaisance Service is S.A.R.S.?

Heh heh...

Movies rarely make good video games- and vice versa. And the only reason I say "rarely" is because I'm sure a few have done it right... but personally, I've never seen it. (Unless you count "Underworld." "Underworld" was a pretty good interpretation of "Bloodrayne.") :)

The only Doom game I ever really played to completion was Doom 64 (on N64). The plot was incredibly bland, if one even existed at all- but the gameplay was all that mattered. It was a lot of fun. I'd never watch what I played on the big screen, though... It would've bored me to tears.

It's probably best that the two mediums don't merge. When they do we get movies like "Double Dragon" and "Super Mario Bros." Ugh!

"And did you notice that Special Armed Rennaisance Service is S.A.R.S.?"

I expect a bunch of medieval knights and wenches....

You're not the Devil...You're practice.

Doom did have a plot. I found it on a website. Anyway, it can be either a game or a movie. Plus, I want it to be that the foolhardy guys who think they can "Go all Rambo-style on their asses!" die, and only the guys who keep out of the way live.

Doom's plot was something to do with a garbled message coming from Mars saying that a teleporter was doing some scary s**t. Then the comms cut out. And then one of Mars' moons vanished from the sky. They send out marines, they all get killed, one guy left, etc. Doom Resurrection takes off when the teleporters are having new experiments run on them. The s**t hits the fan (again) and people die. It isn't supposed to be complex. I want it to be a big, dumb but fun action movie that doesn't have the standard Hollywood ending.

Pick which ending is better:

ENDING 1: All the marines die. Simple.

ENDING 2: The marines destroy the Gateway but are killed by the thousands of demons still in the colony.

ENDING 3: The marines just take off without accomplishing anything.

ENDING 4: Marines destroy the gateway, but not before a big, ugly, p**sed-off motherf**ker comes out and almost kills all of them. They leave, and the demons start attacking the other colonies on the planet.

ENDING 5: Marines destroy colony, kill the demons, and take off... Nah, just messing with you. This ain't an actual ending.

What do you want me to use?

Jack Corbett

Maybe I spelled it wrong... Anyway.

Which ending do you prefer for Doom:Resurrection, odinn?

Brother Ragnarok

Huh.  Sounds an awful lot like "Aliens" to me.  Of course I'm all about movies that feature demons eating people, but you may want to find a slightly less generic plotline.
Also I don't know if this has been mentioned yet or not, but there's already a Doom movie in the final stages of preproduction.
