Always look at the list of Horror, Sci-Fi, and Westerns that are due to come on TV every month before the month starts and noticed that TURNER SOUTH plays a lot of films that I would like to view. I don't get this channel. Does anyone have this channel?

Here is a small sample of what is suppose to play in March on Turner South:

From Earth to the Moon
Battle Beneath the Earth (saw it when I was a kid in the 70's)
The Green Slime (Great fun film!)
The Snow Devils
Coma
Burnt Offerings
The Hunger

FLIX and Encore Channels are also good sources for older films.

I've heard of this channel a few times, and would love to have it in my area.  They seem to show some pretty good stuff.  I do live in southern North Carolina, in what many consider "The South", but I guess the channel only applies to those in the deep south.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

Yeah, I've never seen it anywhere either.  Someone I know who used to DJ at an internet radio station got a gig as co-host of a show there.   I don't think I've even seen it on the various dish systems.

I have the channel.  It does have some old favorites including Critters and Cat's eye

Comcast has been been promoting that we are supposed to get it locally starting next month (along with the Outdoor Life Channel). Folks around here have been demanding it for years since they carried Braves baseball games (not sure if they still do, not a baseball fan anyway). I know a lot of people around here now want it since they simulcast the insanely popular "Rick and Bubba" radio show. I'm indifferent to baseball, but I actively loathe Rick and Bubba, so I won't be watching them.

I like the thought of getting the channel since they carry old movies, a lot of it seems to be the kind of 70s and 80s stuff that TBS filled their schedule with until a few years ago. So once April gets here, I'll get to find out if the channel is worth a look.

I checked...my wife used to have it back when she lived in Georgia.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but, the cable company started carrying Turner South early (they called it a sneak Preview). So we've had the channel for about two weeks now. Thought I'd post my impressions.

They should call it "TBS Retro" or the "'In the Heat of the Night' and Co." channel. That show comes on at least six times a day (more when R&B are on vacation). I've learned very quickly to loathe a commercial they have for their Braves games with Travis Tritt singing some country-pop ditty about the team and doing the Chop at the same time. They play it at every commecial break it seems like.

I've like some of the movies they've shown so far, but most of my favorites are ones I've seen before like "Jeremiah Johnson" or "Valdez is Coming". They had "Deep Rising" and "Godzilla 2000" last Friday, not a bad b-movie combo. ALthough when did "GI Jane" become so popular on TV? It's turned up here in addition to FX,, TNT, and now AMC.

Early mornings on weekends seem to be the best time for lesser known stuff. Saturday morning before I went to sleep they had some corny sex comedy from the 60s starring Tony Curtis ("Oi luv yu Spart-i-cus")and Claudia Cardinale (Oh Yeah!), and featuring a bland title song by the Byrds (you could pratically here the producers writing the check as the song played).

There was a goofy crime melodrama called "On the Border" starring Casper Van Dien (a sign of quality whenever he appears) as a desert town sheriff and Daniel Baldwin as a corrupt bigshot (trying to do his best imitation of Alec's acting style, in the scenes where he looked sober anyway). I only caught part of it but it might be worth some laughs.

So far a mixed bag of a channel, but whoever decided to air "Major Dad" reruns at five in the morning needs to be beaten.
