Funny thing you mention KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE, for I finally saw John Landis' first film SCHLOCK (1972) on DVD. Two words: GREAT MOVIE! A comedy that is funny with Landis' touches. SCHLOCK is definately a movie like BAD TASTE and BRAINDEAD when it comes to not taking a film seriously because it is not a serious film at all! And neither Landis or Peter Jackson intended them to be serious at all either. SCHLOCK is what it is: Schlock!

Questions or comments on John Landis' legendary film SCHLOCK?

I must say, for me "Schlock" was darn close to torture.  I found some of the gags to be amusing, but nothing really to laugh out loud.  For the most part it was just 79 minutes of slogging - seemed to be much longer at the time though.

I have this. I haven't seen it all, but I liked what I saw. But then, I'm a sucker for ultra-low-budget movies like this, especially when done by people who went on to greatness (see also "Dark Star" and "Equinox"). I love the part where the kid is listing off the records he's bringing to the party-- "Pat Boone, Lawrence Welk, Frank Zappa..."
