Toho-Scope Double Feature..............................

THE MYSTERIANS (1957) - This Sci-Fi production from Toho is special as they put alot into it. There are other Japanese films and American films on the subject of Alien invasion and the message of not using science in a bad way, but this film puts alot of elements into it. Like the giant robots, spaceships, masses of people fleeing, the army, the models, the microwave type weapons. All great stuff !



MATANGO ! ATTACK OF THE MUSHROOM PEOPLE (1963) - Really enjoyed this Toho film about a pleasure cruise that runs into a storm and ends up on an erie Island of mushrooms. This should be considered a classic. I'm always amazed by the Japanese film industry during during the 50's-70's. They made this film in 10 days. This is what moviemaking is about and is a good example of great entertainment . Also I like how they start and end the film.



Toho really put effort into their productions. That's what I like to see when watching a film. People making film with enthusiasm. By the way both DVD's from Media Blasters is great quality with good extras including commentary, interviews, photos, trailers and previews from other films like GAPPA,  DOGARA and VARAN.
