Are there movie series out there that you saw the original of and perhaps some of it's sequels (not remakes) but failed to follow through on the others?  I have a few, off the top of my head I immeidately think of The Matrix trilogy.  I completely lost touch with the series after watching the clusterf*ck that was part 2.  Another series that comes to mind is Friday The 13th.  I think I jumped around a bunch and kind of caught bits and pieces of others after watching the first one.  Jaws comes to mind as well.

Though I saw Fast And Furious 1, 2, and 3, I didn't see 4 because of the crappy CGI I heard about.

There's probably a Halloween sequel or two I haven't made it through.  I remember getting bored about 10 minutes into H2O and turning it off.  Think I saw the ending on TV once though.  Nightmare on Elm Street - loved the original, but I don't think I made it more than 20 minutes into most of the sequels.  I tried, I really did.  James Bond - I've seen every one up through the Pierce Brosnan ere, most of them multiple times, but after Quantum of Solace, I don't think twenty dollars cash would be enough to get me to watch Casino Royale.   The Matrix - think I watched the first two,  probably saw bits and pieces of the third on TV.  Revenge of the Nerds, Wrong Turn, Wild Things, Meatballs...I wouldn't be surprised if there were around 50 different series that I've only seen one movie of.

* A few of the later FRIDAY THE 13TH movies (such as JASON TAKES MANHATTAN, JASON GOES TO HELL, JASON X . . . )

* SCREAM 3

* After HALLOWEEN 3, I think I've seen only one additional sequel (either 4 or 5, I can't remember which)

* I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER

There are plenty more . . . this is just a sample.  Once movies start getting into parts 4, 5, 6, etc., I don't see much point in making an effort to see them right away (but I usually end up seeing them eventually, even if it is many years later).

Out of the Halloween series, I've seen 1 through 3, 20 years later, and the first remake.

Scream 3

I still Know What You Did Last Summer

Friday the 13 part 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and Jason X (Yeah, I saw Jason Goes to Hell)

Urban Legends 2 and 3 (I think there's a third)

Final Destination 3

I wish I never saw Candyman 3: Day of the Dead. But I did see it. I still feel a little empty inside when I think of it...

Ditto on The Matrix. After I saw the 2nd one I knew the third could only be worse.

I saw the third one.  I kept saying, "Huh?"  Then it ended and I still don't know what the hell was happening.

I think what killed me is in the second one where basically they come out and say Neo is pretty much a pawn that will bring about the end of humanity anyhow.  I mean really?   Lookingup

I'm sure there are sequels in the past that I ended up not seeing, but I can't remember any offhand. On the other hand, I know two future sequels I don't plan on seeing. The sequels to the latest "Star Trek" and "Sherlock Holmes" films. While they both got favorable reviews and were popular at the boxoffice, neither film impressed me enough that I pay my money to see any sequel to neither one.

I watched all the Ernest sequels and they did get progressively worse. As a kid they were still watchable though.

Hellraiser Parts 3-8.  I mean, the first was fine enough.  2 was passable, at best.  Did we really need a 3,4,5,6,7, or 8? Buggedout

Leprechaun 2,3,4- I read about them.  Saw the first, as well as Leprechaun in the Hood, and Leprechaun: Back to The Hood.  Why, I dunno.

Never did see Pet Semetary 2.

Seen Hellraiser 2, 3, 4, and that one where Kirsty returns (Hellseeker) but that's it.  Course I'm told a lot of the latter Hellraiser movies aren't really Hellraiser films.  They're more "Films with Pinhead shoehorned in somewhere" films.

Haven't seen S. Darko, but considering the original writer/director had NOTHING to do with the film, I don't know if you could really call it a sequel.
