another faithful homage no doubt!
They are giving vintage classics a contemporary makeover for a contemporary audience adjusted to contemporary viewing habits and sensibilities. Obviously, things that were ok in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s can't be done any more unless they want to start a hysterical global Internet meltdown
I like some of the remakes, and some I don't. For example, Road House 2024 did nothing for me. It lacks whatever made the original so good. They knew that, and knew they couldn't recreate the magic and essence from the time it was made. Road House 2024 was filmed mostly in the Dominican Republic, pretending to be elsewhere. So much for the essence.
They hired one of the biggest names, Jake Gyllenhaal, and applied CGI stunt doubles for 'realistic fight scenes'. End result is a glossy over the top 'superhero' movie that looks and feels artificial (it also has some really bad CGI effects).
