Director Mario Bava, who was responsible for BLACK SUNDAY (1960) and BLACK SABBATH (1964), filmed TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE in 1972. TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE is considered to be the one that influnced the death scenes and ideas for FRIDAY THE 13TH. Wait, I am sorry. The death sequences were not influnced at all. They were stolen for FRIDAY THE 13TH by porno producer Sean S. Cunningham!

Funny thing about this Bava film. When recieving a breif release in the U.S. as TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE, U.S. distributor Hallmark Releasing Corporation picked up the film and released TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE under a cut format with a new title called BAY OF BLOOD. It was later re-issued as CARNAGE by Hallmark and then the distributor re-released the film again as THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT PART 2 to make it look like a sequel to the first one. Wow, talk about BAD distribution.

Even Bava himself did not like TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE. In an old interview, Bava said the film was "a piece of s**t."

TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE is still an excellent horror film and is certainly way better than that Hollywood produced crap! All I have to say is Bravo Bava!

Any questions or comments about this magnificant film?

I though Twitch of a Death Nerve ( isn't it dead nerve?) was so-so.

The copy I had was Bay of Blood, but it said it was uncut and uneditted.

I eventually traded it for a copy of Bad Taste.

I rather enjoyed it, having gotten to see the uncut "Twitch."  The death scenes were quite interesting, though I do admit this is lesser Bava (though nowhere near as bad as "Danger: Diabolik").
