Wow. Just, wow.
I’ve played all the games. Well, except fo76, because I don’t do mmorpg’s. I played them all as they came out.
They nailed the ambience, tone and humor/poignance so very well in the show. I’m so stoked!
I'm a huge Fallout fan all the way back too, still replay the mainline ones every few years. And yeah, mostly skipped FO76 (briefly tried it for free) too.
I finished the show, it was a good time. I don't think it's
great but I enjoyed it, there's some good characters, Walton Goggins is terrific, several pretty good kooky characters, which are a must in Fallout. Visually strong, good production. I wish it had not been the same basic inciting plot as Fallout 3 AND Fallout 4 (chasing a family member out of the Vault), but not a huge deal. Well worth a watch. I'm curious how it plays to non-fans, I think it'll still be good, but probably some stuff will be a bit less clear. I may ask my elderly mother and stepfather to watch it, they watched the Last of Us with no idea it was a video game adaptation and quite liked it.
Also, I have to agree with one criticism - it's a bit tiring how since Bethesda took over Fallout (and the show is canon to the games) seems they won't let anything move much beyond debris, raiders, scavengers, and garbage everywhere. I'm hoping season 2 shows this maybe isn't the case, just in the corner we saw, but not holding out for that.
