Everybody has a weird talent.
Mine is gleeking (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gleeking).
The technical definition according to Wikipedia is, "the projection of saliva from the submandibular gland upon compression by the tongue."
Now there's a word you don't use everyday. Submandibular!
When I was a freshman in high school, lots of other kids could gleek...and they would gleek on me. To retaliate, I learned how to do it myself.
A memory that is still fresh in my mind was when I asked my mother if she knew what gleeking was. When she said no, I gleeked in her face. Needless to say, she went ballistic. I got it all over her glasses and remember her swearing at me as she ran those glasses under the sink to wash them off.
I thought it was hilarious! :bouncegiggle:
How about you?
Got any weird talents?
I can do "The String Trick". That's where you snort a length of string up your nose and pull it out of your mouth. When I was in the Army, I snorted on end of my dog-tag chain up my nose, pulled it out of my mouth, and attached it so it was litterally hooked through my skull. Cool eh?
I can juggle five tennis balls at the same time. Or let me put it this way: I have. Did. Once. Usually four's my upper limit.
*I* can't do this, but my favorite weird talent is spit bubbles - not the ones that gather on your lips, anyone can do that, but the ones that actually float away! A kid in my ROTC class could do it and I remember standing behind him for inspection and seeing the little bubbles floating away from him. It was so hard not to laugh I was tearing up.
Nope. No talent I can think of.
But one of my favorite stories of a weird talent is 19th-century French performer Le Petomane.

Ah, will we ever again have a venue like the Moulin Rouge, where a musical farter can be a headliner seen by royalty?

I can do this but not to perfection.
I can wiggle my ears. I remember as a kid trying to explain to my mother how to do it. I think you either have the "talent" or you don't.
I've never heard of gleeking before, and I can't do it, at least not on the first try. I can wiggle my ears, flare my nostrils, lift one eyebrow (Mr. Spock style), wiggle the top part of my forehead, curl my tongue into a tube (can't quite manage the cloverleaf) and juggle (only three balls, though, 'cause I never practice). Are any of these talents?
I can also sit for hours and listen to accordion music. Bagpipes, too. Is that talent or self-loathing?
Musically, I sing, play several instruments, write songs, etc. A self-proclaimed musical genius (i.e., arrogant organist with zero social skills) once showed off how he could beat triplets (no, Menard, he wasn't spanking three girls :tongueout:) with one hand while simultaneously beating eighth notes with the other (three beats against two). After about ten seconds of watching him, I could do it easily. Is that talent?
I can perfectly imitate a cat purring, by almost choking on my tongue :teddyr:
I can move both thumbs beyond the human normal. Its almost a dislocation.

can you wiggle them independently of each other or just both at the same time? I can do one at a time but I distinctly remember practicing how to do this when I was about 9 or 10, don't think I was 'born' an ear waggler
I can also bend my little finger on my right hand backwards bending at all the joints so it curves back on itself. really useful for not much actually...

Just tried it, the answer is yes.
I can raise either eyebrow independent of one or the other. I can wiggle my ears too. I can also make my lips vibrate real fast so that it sounds like a helicopter. I can cross one eye, while the other looks straight . I've been told I have a 'rubber' face. I'm real good at making stupid looking faces.
My girlfriend complains I can fart and belch louder than most. Is that talent? :teddyr:
I can make any conversation uncomfortable by saying only a few words.
I can inflate my tongue at will to three times its normal size, and I can belch at will, and fire off a series of rapidfire burps most of the time when I feel like it. I can also arch my right eyebrow but not my left.
Funny, I can arch my LEFT, but not my right eyebrow.
I "can't" snap my fingers. Always bugged me.
When I was nine, I learned how to make the Vulcan peace sign. Albeit, it was a while before I was able to do it without the aid of scotch tape. Though, at the time, we knew it as the nanu-nanu sign from Mork & Mindy.
With my bad teeth, I have this trick where I can do an impression of the wolf man, then morph it into an Elvis lip curl, then morph that into an impression of the elephant man.
You know that trick where ya' strum your finger across your lips real fast to make it sound like you're underwater? I figured out a way to make that noise by curling the corners of my bottom lip back & forth real fast.
I have this cartoonish high pitched voice that tends to impress younger people. Older people, on the other hand, find it irritating as heck, particularly folks with kids.
I can also flare & relax my nostrils real fast, but most folks aren't impressed by that.
I can flex my pecks, which is quite an odd site when you consider I'm a pudgy, flabby guy with manboobs.
The one talent that I'm most proud of, the one which inspired me to go into radio & acting, is my seemingly uncanny ability to pronounce the word anonymity. Some folks have been working the program a lot longer than I have, and yet they still can't pronounce that one word.
I can do a triple tongue curl.

I can almost do 4, but not quite.
I'm a darn good free-hand tree climber.
I can drink Tequila, Beer, Wine, Whiskey, anything, in any combination without getting sick. Just the other night I had a beer in one hand, a glass of wine in the other, and drank intermittent shots of Tequila. Had a few of each and never got sick in the least.
I also have the knack for making up nicknames for people that tend to stick with them.
I can wrap my fingers around one another by placing each finger over the one next to it. My dad can also do this. At school they claimed it was disgusting!
I can make my eyeballs vibrate. It's easier to do if I stay in practice.

Sweet, juggling rocks!
Since kids I am way out of practice but I was able to juggle 5 balls too. I would also juggle knives and torches. I worked my way through graduate school by doing clowning/juggling at birthday parties (no knives or torches at the birthday parties though).
I can and still often make balloon animals.
I have a talent for not getting cavities. Never ever had one.

mad!
I can remember a lot of useless info (but not the important things like when meetings are)

Same here!
I couldn't raise my right eyebrow if my life depended on it.
I can also make the Predator sound.
You remember that, right?
I vibrate my glottis, at least I think that's what it's called. I can't do it all the time, but when I can, it sounds
exactly like the Predator.

You too eh? I can remember weird crap like the name of EVERY schoolteacher I've ever had and trivial crap like that, but anything useful: Out the door at first opportunity.
I can move my eyebrows independantly more so then John Belushi could. I can pop my knuckle at will over and over again, most people have to wait a while after they pop their knuckles I can immediately do it again repeatedly.
I have this dubious talent for making one old pair of slightly used underpants last for 365 days, or 366, if it's Leap Year.
By the time it reaches 366 days, the underpants leap by themselves... :buggedout: :buggedout: :buggedout:
I can do all of Criss Angels Magic tricks... Is that Weird? I can also gleek and pull string through my nose. I usually use the gelly bracelets though i used to walk around school with half hanging out my mouth and half hanging out my nose. till i got suspended lol
I can wiggle both eyebrows independently, plus arch them higher than Spock.
I can touch the tip of my nose with my tongue.
I used to be able to do a near-perfect impression of Doctor Claw from the Inspector Gadget cartoon.
I can imitate dozens of famous people and cartoon voices.
Since I've been playing electric guitar since '78
many people have told me I really need to get onstage
to perform a few voices, then a guitar solo then more voices, then another solo, etc
