Call me captain obvious, but I didn't know Liam Neeson was in Krull. I saw it this weekend and had to go to IMDB to verify. I love coming across stuff like that in old (yet good) movies that I haven't seen for a while. It kind of puts me in the mood to go hunt easter eggs or something.
Liam Neeson was memorable in alot of small parts in films, before he became a star. Some of his other memorable parts are as Gawain in "Excalibur," Churchill in "The Bounty," and Fielding in "The Mission."
I remember stumbling upon "BMX Bandits" many years ago before there was an imdb.com, and telling people, "Look, that's Nicole Kidman." I was told I had no idea what I was talking about, that I was crazy and a few other things I can't print here. So we called a video store that had paid for one for one of those huge Facts On File type things for cross referencing films, actors and the like. It took them ten minutes, but even they were surprised when they confirmed it.
with all due respect I believe that is a redundent description. surprises are by their nature unexpected

I thought of that after I wrote it.
Another random Liam Neeson movie is the Dead Pool.

I have a degree in English, which means I have a license to murder the language any damn way I please. I hereby deputize Bmeansgood to jack up grammar any way he pleases as long as he claims to know the difference.
And don't forget Jim Carrey in "The Dead Pool" as well

Colonel Sanders in "Blast Off Girls"
And in a few other H.G. Lewis movies. Kentucky Fried Chicken provided financing for several of them. Sort of strange seeing characters eating at KFC and having the Colonel show up for no apparent reason.

Look even more closely for Jeff Goldblum.
Did you just say BMX Bandits? That is awesome.
Hey how about Lewis Black in Jacob's Ladder? He was the doctor talking to Tim Robbins after he woke up in the tub of ice water.
I got a kick out of noticing James Cromwell in Murder By Death and Revenge of the Nerds after he hit it big. It's a funny thing how somebody can be working in movies for years and then suddenly get a role that makes him a household name. And it feels so weird running across the guy in a movie you saw many times before you had any reason to remember he was in it. It kind of feels like you missed something obvious, even though you know it wasn't.

That reminds me of Jeff Goldblum's role as one of the rapist/murderers in the original DEATH WISH.
An uncredited Yul Brenner in THE MAGIC CHRISTIAN.

Walter Matthau popping up uncredited as a drunk in EARTHQUAKE.

Or even MORE closely for Sigourney Weaver's first role, where she doesn't even get any lines!
Eric "Garbage day" Freeman in Children of the corn.
