TALKING HEADS Stop Making Sense
(http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff259/allhallowsday/TALKINGHEADSStopMakingSense.jpg)
That is a great live album from one of the greatest concert films of all time. I used to have the album on vinyl. However, I was always a little disappointed because it lacks so many songs from the film. It should have been a double album from the start.
36. THE WHO Live At Leeds

Oh, good pick. Don't know how that one slipped my mind.
AHD already nominated "Waltz with Debbie" earlier, but we also need this companion recording:
40. Bill Evans, "Sunday at the Village Vanguard"
40. Jane's Addiction - Jane's Addiction
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/0e/Jane%27s_Addiction_album.jpg)
I nominate this one not because I'm a big Jane's Addiction fan (I'm only a marginal one at best), but for a couple of other reasons. One, they were a phenomenal band when they were up-and-coming. Two, they released a live album as their first album. I applaud that level of ballsyness. This album captures them in their hungry days, before fame reduced the quality of their work.
42. The Concert For Bangladesh

I had a Freddie Hubbard one I wanted to post, but I cannot find which one it is. I used to have it, and when I look at the discography, I don't see it. Further, the one song I remember listening to the most ("One Mint Julep") is only listed as being on Freddie's first (studio) album, with no live recording noted (that I have been able to find).
Grrr. :hatred:
Oh well. Can I slip in for later an Honorable Mention for ANY Freddie Hubbard live? :teddyr:

This one doesn't get a tremendous amount of love from Miles fans but I dig it.

Can't somebody come up with a 100th album?
100. (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/76/R.E.M._-_R.E.M._Live.jpg)
R.E.M. (although personally I prefer the tracks chosen for the Road Movie film but that wasn't an album far as a I know. Still some great R.E.M. tunes on this.
I have a question:
Would the UnPlugged album by Alice in Chains have counted? It was technically live, seeing as it was recorded during a live performance. Granted, it aired on tv later, but the session was released, with a live audience on the tracks.
It is quite an amazing album.

Yes. I had added
NEIL YOUNG Unplugged a page or two back.
Neil Young's Unplugged is amazing.
That's actually when I became a fan of the guy.
I actually like Creedence Clearwater Revisited's live albums but of course they aren't quite Creedence Clearwater Revival.
MTV Unplugged gave us many wonderful performances. This begs the question "Why cannot MTV stick to its MUSICAL roots?"
Another good Unplugged: The Corrs

I second that one AHD even though you don't really like the "egg gargling vocals" as you say . Most of the live renditions blow away the studio versions.
My favourite (and still unlisted, I think) is this one:

"Alchemy", a 1984 live album capturing Dire Straits before they turned into elevator music manufacturers.

I saw
MARK KNOPFLER live with
ERIC CLAPTON sometime in the late 1980s. It was a great show.
