I feel like I should see Fantastic Four just so I can feel the rage and loathing properly.

Waiting for Fantastic 4 to hit the bargain bin before I risk picking it up.

I'm surprised Pixels got nominated for so many awards. Here's what I said about it in the Pixels thread.

I saw the earlier today. Is it an all time great film, nope. I found it to be fun and enjoyable.

Kevin James did a passable job in this. Sandler....well he is what he is.

I liked the performances of the other lead actors and actress.

The concept is great, but I think it could've been executed much better.

3/5

Unfortunately, sometimes not much thought goes into these awards, as there are apparently some people, Adam Sandler being one of them, that as soon as you see their name attached to a film, one thinks Razzie. No matter how good or bad a nominee may be.

The most interesting award (IMHO) is the Razzie Redeemer Award, as it does show that no matter how bad a nominee can get, their next time can take you by surprise, and they can turn out something good.

I, too, have seen none of the nominees up for a Razzie. I don't know whether this pleases me, as my taste in films seems to have improved from years past, or displeases me, as I like to make up my own mind on a nominee, ere I am told it is one of the worst things ever done.

Still, there is plenty of time left this year for me to see something nominated for a Razzie next year.

And we'll see what we'll see.

I stopped taking the Razzie's seriously when they decided that Jack and Jill was somehow worse then Bucky Larson.

Choosing between those two is like deciding whether you'd rather get cancer of the penis or testicles.

I saw Jupiter Ascending and it's not that bad.  It is definitely a style over substance movie, and looked great on he big screen.  Story wise it was trying to hard to be complex and wasn't as smart as it thought it was. (I think I said it was trying to hard to be the modern equivalent of Dune), but despite all its obvious flaws, I'm still glad I saw it.

It's certainly better then the other movies in the worst movie category.  I'm reminded of the old saying about how its better to aim for the stars and miss rather then aim for the gutter and hit it.

Umm, trust me when I say that of the two, you would prefer testicular cancer as it usually only develops in one testicle, which can be removed. Speaking from experience.

Related to this, why do I keep seeing Movie 43 being listed as Movie 47? I'm fairly confident that I have seen this error elsewhere. Of course, I'm one of the only people who seemed to enjoy that movie. Let me make it clear that I am NOT saying it was good or even in good taste (it wasn't), but I got a few laughs out of it and was shocked at the stars who appeared in it.

"Worst picture"
"Worst director"
"Worst remake"

Which seems to have put off 20th Century Fox from making a "Fantastic Four 2" for release in 2017. Making the situation now extremely fluid. Though, the best guesses seem to be that 20th Century Fox will let the film rights revert to Marvel Studios. And what Marvel Studios will do with it--is anybody's guess.

I think one of the razzie criteria should be only try and select nominations that could conceivably have been nominated for proper oscars for those movies/actors etc

Going for stuff like Paul blart mall cop and alivin & the chipmunks seems a bit lazy and also cynical imo. like laughing at a small kid cause he can't reach the basketball hoop

Jack and Jill, while serving no other purpose but to bring awareness to Dunkin Doughnuts is at least watchable. Bucky Larson is not only the worst movie I've ever seen it turned me off of bad movies for a long, long while.

I was in a video store a while back and I had Bucky Larson in my hands: I heard this voice in my head telling me to put down the box and step away slowly - I was sure it was you talking.

On a side note, it strikes me as amazing that no one can get the fantastic 4 onto film with any success at all.  Its a cursed property.
There were parts of Pixels that were very clever I thought.   So while it wasn't GOOD, we're not talking Razzie turf.

Re: The cancer thread... all my bits climbed right back inside reading that.  Thansk SO much.

Sorry for resurrecting a dead thread (I must really start visiting more often).

The only one on the list I watched was Fifty Shades of Grey and I didn't find it all that bad. Mind you, Dakota Johnson is easy on the eyes, especialy when she is... ahem... au natural. And considering that it made something like $500 million worldwide isn't what I would call a failure. Then there is the fact that the sequel has already been greenlighted so that says something.

On the other hand I tried watching Mad Max: Fury Road and gave up after 40 minutes of so... go figure..

Not surprised. Fury Road seem to rub many people (from what I read on various message boards) the wrong way. I thought it was brilliant for what it is.
I also thought Charlize Theron did an outstanding job with what she was given. Fury Road is a thrill ride more exciting than any Fast & Furious movie. Just my humble opinion.
