I just had a little re-watch of Lenzi's NIGHTMARE CITY (1980) , and I like the way it wastes virtually no time in getting down to the action... there's barely a minute of exposition after the credits, before the mayhem starts
any other films that don't bother with long intros and just go for broke? (good movies can count too)
I suppose there are films that have a hectic/frantic opening scene as a kind of prologue, and then the long intro to the film proper begins... but I'm not really talking about that
Independence Day (1996) the opening scene is the mothership invasion!

I honestly don't remember if I've seen INDEPENDENCE DAY or not? definitely not seen that other one...

WILD AT HEART (1990)

Star Wars Episodes III & IV probably did it the best for me. Having a movie start literally right in the middle of a battle scene with guns blazing and screams of the dying just gets my juices flowing.
The opening of SCREAM - Drew Barrymore cries and dies in the first five minutes!
On the Waterfront -- that dude get tossed off the roof right away, like not even 3 minutes in
The Dawn of the Dead remake from 2004 doesn't play around. The $hit hits the fan within the first few minutes.
Shoot 'Em Up. Starts with a gunfight and pretty much just keeps going.
Mindhunters (2004) starts with a creepy title sequence (someone drowning :buggedout:) and then goes right into an investigation of a serial killer. No time for breathing here.

studied this film for my A Level. must've watched it 5 or 6 times in a year. had class debates about it. wrote an essay about it, and got a B.... can I remember a
single thing about it except for the 'coulda been a contender' scene? nope :bouncegiggle:
The original DAWN OF THE DEAD opens with the assault on the apartment complex.
Also, Romero's the CRAZIES stars out with a father killing his family and burning down the house.
The opening of BLACK SUNDAY (1960) starts with Barbara Steele getting a spiked mask hammered into her face-

The Evil Dead remake hits the ground running with a girl being burned at the stake, and maintains that same grimy, nasty, balls to the wall feel for the rest of its run time.
Kill Bill Volume 1
Error 404 (Not Found)!!1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZHzIvPIInc#)
The Canadian movie SIEGE (1983) immediately comes to mind. HATE CRIME (2012) is another one.

The wild Bunch.
One of the best movies ever made.
"Let's go."
Dobermann dives right into the action.
Black Demons (1991. directed by Umberto Lenzi) Starts with a bang when "Dick" (played by Joe Blogh... yes, that's is screen name) starts b***hing to his half sister and her boyfirend about not going to see any zombie rituals as they've been in Rio 5 whole days. "Dick" immedicaly storms off to find voodoo rituals on his own.. and he finds one. It goes immediately downhill from there.
Reservoir Dogs
Underwater 2020, starts before the first line of dialogue.
the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974) started with a corpse sitting on a tombstone surrounded by cops.
Art director and prop master Robert Burns did a great job.
Most Indiana Jones movies start with an action scene.
