Mindhunters (2004) starts with a creepy title sequence (someone drowning  :buggedout:) and then goes right into an investigation of a serial killer. No time for breathing here.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

The original DAWN OF THE DEAD opens with the assault on the apartment complex.

Also, Romero's the CRAZIES stars out with a father killing his family and burning down the house.

The Evil Dead remake hits the ground running with a girl being burned at the stake, and maintains that same grimy, nasty, balls to the wall feel for the rest of its run time.

The Canadian movie SIEGE (1983) immediately comes to mind. HATE CRIME (2012) is another one.

Black Demons (1991. directed by Umberto Lenzi)  Starts with a bang when "Dick" (played by Joe Blogh... yes, that's is screen name) starts b***hing to his half sister and her boyfirend about not going to see any zombie rituals as they've been in Rio 5 whole days.  "Dick" immedicaly storms off to find voodoo rituals on his own.. and he finds one.   It goes immediately downhill from there.
