Title: 100 BEST ACTORS OF ALL TIME
Post by: RCMerchant on February 05, 2021, 09:24:34 AM
This is of course based on opinion. Not Oscars or awards. So if you think a shmuck like Adam Sandler makes the list- fire away!
So of course...
1. Bela Lugosi

(https://i.imgur.com/OsELaBX.jpg) (https://lunapic.com)

You fine folks knew that was coming, I reckon.
Yes, I know. He could really ham it up. But he was good at it.
When someone imitates Dracula, you don't hear  Christopher Lee or John Carradine. Lee played the Count in 10 films; Carradine in 4 films.
Bela only did 2.

In No particular order...

Sam Rockwell (the man can dive into a role flawlessly)

Gary Oldman (same thing.. I did not recognize him as Commissioner Gordon in Batman Begins)

Leonard Nemoy.  (I saw Shell Duvall's "Fairytale Theater" 35 years ago "Alladin and his wonderful Lamp" I was trying to guess who played Jaffar.. I didn't know it was Nemoy until the credits rolled up)

Gene Hackman

Brando (before he went totally bats**t crazy, he was an amazing actor)

Helen Slater (Watch Supergirl, she played up her secret identity AND supergirl with amazing and highly underrated acting skills!)

John Saxxon (he got stuck in the Hollywood mobeus strip of playing one role for most his careeer.. except in "Wrong is Right" where he gave Sean Connerys character "How to spy" lessons..and sold it...and Sir Sean bought it)

you posted this in bad movies so with that in mind I'll go for Christopher George..always enjoy when he's on screen, even if I only really know him for his b movie horror/slasher stuff

saw a documentary on him recently where they pointed out that studio execs always considered him too nice to be a bad guy, but too nasty to be a good guy...

Clarification requested from RC: is this list supposed to be just male actors (which is what I assumed)?

:bouncegiggle:

but then again, this is the bad movie section so  :teddyr:

14 Jack Nicholson

I don't give a f**k. Name one movie she has done beyond the piece of s**t that is SUPERGIRL -just f**king one.
I'm not listing her. I'm sorry. Kornhole will not highjack this thread with his stupid s**t.
Your sorry ass may have a hard on for Supergirl- don't count for much. f**k all that.
I gotta hard on for Rene Bond- but you won't seeing me posting her name here.
If I start a thread about the worst answers to a list- I'll include Helen f**king Slater.

Hijacking a thread would be someone posting over 5 posts in a row with a single response...hmmmm

PS, Helen f**king Slater did a fantastic acting job in a super s**tty movie. That's why she didn't get roles after that.

f**k Helen Slater.

I'm sure you love her. We get that. Perhaps she WAS good in SUPERGIRL. She is not someone I will include on a "100 Actors of All Time" list.
If you would like to start a list of one shot actors that did a good job in a s**t movie list- go at it!

PS: So how did you figure out this " hijacking takes 5 posts in a row" theory?
If you high jack an airplane once- you usually don't get a second chance- let alone 5.
Forget it- I don't wanna know.

Her crowning achievement for me was The Legend of Billie Jean (1985), and she was "ok" in Ruthless People (1986). I barely remember Supergirl or any of her "fine acting nuances" for that part. Other than that, she's just not a very memorable actress.

You have seen him; he's even got a significant part in AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS (1956)
He was Long John Silver in TREASURE ISLAND (1950)
He was Blackbeard in BLACKBEARD THE PIRATE (1952)
He was Bill Sykes in OLIVER TWIST (1948)

Perhaps he's a little out of his league among all the names you've mentioned, but I thoroughly recommend to watch a couple of his movies, mainly EL SECRETO DE SUS OJOS.

How many  big movie roles did he have? 3?
To do only 3 movies and to be right up there with Monroe and Brando in the 50's- no mean feat. And he deserved it. Rewatch any one of those movies.
You don't see too many folks who only did 3 movies on posters, tee shirts, etc- he is a pop culture icon.
Plus he was buddies with Vampira- the first punk rock girl!

She invented the 'Vamp'.
Nobody gives a rats ass about her movie history, ya know, because shes's dead well over 100 years old by now, because some folks don't realize that films were made before they were born.
I have noticed some people cannot wrap their mind around the concept that some good movies were made before 1976- before Star Wars. But their was such a thing once upon a time.

^ Robert Newton? Who the f**k is he? Are you pulling another Helen Slater?
Character actor who died young, so he gets over looked often. He basically created the stereotypical depiction of a pirate, the same way Bela Lugosi created the stereotypical depiction of a vampire. Don't know what sort of range Newton had as an actor, but creating an iconic role is something.

i dunno if he's on here or not but my favorite actor of all time Mickey Rooney the man could act his ass off when he had the right script and the right director.

there are films he is just simply awful in (1976)'s Find The lady is one where he just plain awful in but than the movie is also awful too i have it on VHS.
but than look at Boys Town (1938) and you can see why i put him on here, later on he was underrated and you could say he ruined his own Career when he quit MGM and he even later said it was the dumbest thing he ever did and i think he's right.

but when he had the right role, director and writer he could be good but sadly that wasn't always the case he was in movies for a stunning 88 years!

and at some point i don't remember when it was i want to say the middle of the film she goes do ya want to change it? i said PLEASE by than i had no idea what

the hell was going on. i love black comedy's but i guess it was just something that i could not get into though it did have a fantastic cast though and it's James

Earl Jones if i'm not mistaken 1st film so having your 1st film be a film like that and with the kind of love that film gets is pretty damn good for you to start your film career don't you think?

fair enough i explained myself because some people can take some stuff way to serious and they can't believe i can't like certain movies but most movies i do try and watch them. i like Star Wars myself but i don't take it serious and it doesn't anger me like it does most star wars fans.  i liked the last two and those get a lot of hate too go figure. but to each their own my friend i also like Star Trek but unlike some people i could care less how many women Kirk slept with

unlike some fans who know the exact number i could care less. i enjoy certain shows and the films and that's about it they kill an afternoon that's my way of thinking man

^ I have no idea. I quit buying movies years ago. You can find anything on Roku.
I DO have the Star Trek movie with Khan on vhs, and have seen every episode of the 60's series 100's of times. They reran the show every day for years on uhf channels on TV in the 70's. And I saw it in the 60's as a kid. And I still watch it on Netflix.

oh i will always buy movies i prefer owning them rather than streaming though that doesn't mean i never do watch movies streamed if it's one i don't have i will watch it.  and if it's one i love or end up loving i end up buying. but on how i look it streaming is if i want to watch a certain season of a show i love i can go to my shelf and pick it up but if that same season and show is on netflix that's not always going to be on it.

and not everything is on rooku i have a rooku actually.  last time i tried netflix when we did have it as it stopped working for us for some reason or another i looked up at least a dozen things i wanted to see and not one thing showed up on netflix at all. i also watch some stuff on you tube and if it's a rare one i end up loving i just download it from you tube cause it may not always be on there either.
