I heard these four albums as a kid: they marked me forever but in a positive way.

The War of The Worlds (Jeff Wayne)
Every Good Boy Deserves Favor (The Moody Blues)
The Wall (Pink Floyd)
Cold Fact (Sixto Rodriguez)

Albums by Pink Floyd and King Crimson (and to a lesser extent Moody Blues) served as gateways into jazz and classical music for me, so although I think they're sometimes flawed (and sometimes brilliant), they are still really important to me.

I also loved the Beatles even as a kid, and their music still holds up for me today.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness will always hold special meaning to me and transport me back to the mid-90s. It was the soundtrack of my life for a meaningful era. It was also released a year to the day after I nearly died.

I went somewhere alone today and played the entire nearly hour and a half of it, and felt sixteen.  :smile:

I will always think of their second album as THE Led Zep album, though not the best.

Songs?  "Honey" by BOBBY GOLDSBORO I played a lot because my mother bought the 45... 1970?  By then, we'd had my brother and cousin's BEATLES 45s and LPs...

END OF THE CENTURY - The Ramones

This was the first Ramones album I ever bought, so it has sentimental value. It was produced by Phil Spector and has a much more "polished" sound than their other albums (which may turn some fans off). There isn't a track on the album I don't like. When I play it, memories of my high school years come flooding back.

I wasn't much into albums for the most part-- other than various artist compilations/best of's-- but some I really dug:

I have some entire series of various artist compilations, and we had a number of those K-Tel/Ronco/Sessions albums back in the day.

Unfortunately the effort yielded their best selling effort (went all the way to #44...) and it is kind of reviled by diehards.   

I always say that Metallica's debut album, Kill'Em All, re-arranged my DNA when I was a kid.

I was 13 years old when that album came out in 1983. The first time I heard it, it was immediately clear that a lot of the so called "Metal" bands I'd been listening to at that time (Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, etc.) weren't gonna cut it anymore. There was a new sheriff in town!

I mentioned earlier how Metallica's Kill 'Em All "re-arranged my DNA" when I was a kid, here's another one:

AC/DC's Let There Be Rock (1977) was the first rock album that I ever owned. I got the cassette from my brother for Xmas in 1981. I was 11 years old and it sparked a lifelong fascination with loud, obnoxious music.

I used to wonder why my bro picked Let There Be Rock over the then-current Back In Black or For Those About To Rock albums, until years later when he told me it was a "Super Saver" cassette that was a few bucks cheaper than the other AC/DC titles on the rack. :D

Anyway, since LTBR was the only tape I had for a long time, obviously I played it TO DEATH. I knew every lyric (though I dont' think I quite realized what "Go Down" was about till years later, haha), every guitar lick, every solo by heart. Eventually I had to replace with a vinyl copy because I wore out that cassette, and now I own it on CD (it's one of only a handful of albums that I've owned in three formats...)

To this day, AC/DC is still one of my all time favorite bands, they can do no wrong by me. I want a copy of Let There Be Rock buried with me when I croak.

Good choice..  my first AC/DC album (cassette) was Who Made Who... the soundtrack to MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE. I've subsequently bought (and then either lost/lent/sold) all their others, to the point where I now own none! saw them live on the Stiff Upper Lip tour, probably the loudest show I've been to... Bon Scott is possibly the best frontman ever imo. just pure emotion

Managed to catch them back on the Ballbreaker album, although I really wish I could have picked up tickets for the Razor's Edge (my first AC/DC album) tour. The sight of Brian Johnson being swung around on a wrecking ball has stayed with me.

yeah they don't hold back on the gigantic stage props... the 50ft 'Rosie' was there when I saw them (old wembley arena), and I'm pretty sure the Hell's Bell was too
