Title: Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers
Post by: Olivia Bauer on May 23, 2022, 11:42:01 PM
Man, I can't take this self-referential nostalgia bait stuff anymore. It's trying to be Roger Rabbit but with worse animation and no charm. I really hate the direction animation is heading as a medium thanks to companies like Disney.

Also, they did Peter Pan real dirty.

Another brick ripped from the wall of my childhood.

It's been so long since I've seen the cartoon; not sure what I'd think of it today, but it was fun when I was young.

This movie looks terrible tho. Is it making fun of the original? The trailer looked more like something from a spoof than a tribute or update.

Haven't seen the movie yet. (Don't have Disney+) but the online reviews for seem to be more on the positive side. That being said what I've read about the story doesn't make me all that interested. -I wasn't worried about spoilers for this.

And if you think the movie did Peter Pan dirty, it gets worse because this is apparently is what happened to the kid who played Peter Pan.  When he got old, the studio dumped him and he died in squalor because he couldn't get work.

Watched it, thought it was ok and amusing in places. Ash sat quietly and watched it the whole way through, so I guess he liked it too. Chip and Dale seem to be his second favourite cartoon characters to watch.

You could surround me with guns after pulling out my teeth one by one, and I would still not watch this movie.

For everything that people complained about Ready Player One or Space Jam 2 exploiting nostalgia.......Rescue Rangers is 1000X worse. It's not a Chip N' Dale movie, it's not a Rescue Rangers movie, and it fails at being the Roger Rabbit movie that clearly wanted to make. It's a mess for 40/50 year old stoners that think they are being funny.

Also enjoyed by young children.
