Being a goofy bastard myself, I love it when the hero in a movie is a bit on the geeky side.  I would have to say my choice is a toss-up between Derek, from Bad Taste, and Lt. Wilbur Finletter, from Killer Tomatoes.  What about you others?

Flangepart

Bob and Doug from the great white north count, Eh?  Stanly Krelboin in "Little shop of horrors", either version......hummmm....Stanley Ipkiss from "The Mask"?(or any Cary movie, realy).....man...lots to choose from!....Oh, Whats his name, Mr. Angry from "Mystery Men"....i'm tapped...you?

Ash from the Evil Dead series, hands down.  Granted, he is the geek I aspire to be one day.  If I had to pick a second it would be Lionel from Dead-Alive.

Scotty Xtreme

I will agree with you as counting Lionel as a geek, but disagree with you on Ash.  I never really thought of him as a nerdy character, but more of a parody(in ED2 and AofD) of the tough guy hero.  Then again in the first one he is kind of a dork.

chris

Shop Smart, Shop S-Mart.  He is a one hundred percent geek before having to take on the armies of the dead.  And much of his dorkiness bleeds into his Action Hero role, especially in Army of Darkness. And until push comes to shove, Ash usually spends the movie just trying to save his own skin, and not save the world.  Sam "The Miracleworker" Raimi has even said, Ash is a complete dork except when it comes to kicking zombie ass.  C'mon, if  Ash approached you in the S-Mart housewares section, hair slicked back and pocket protector glistening in the flourescent lights, you wouldn't be thinking "Man oh man, is this guy ever cool."  Okay, maybe some of you would.

Scotty Xtreme

alright, I see your point.  I guess I was just wrong again, as usual.  I'll go cry now

BlackAngel

All the nerds in the Revenge of Nerds series.

BlackAngel

Those kids from the Goonies.

Brother Ragnarok

My favorite dorky b-movie hero would have to be Nick from Time Chasers.  I dare any of you to find me a dorkier hero.

BadTaste_nz

id have to go with Derek, no surprize

Law Dog

Nick - the man with a piton for a chin. I love the bots on MST3K pointing out the operating system for the time drive was contained on 8 old fashion floppy disks.

Brother Ferox

I'm with you on the Lionel front.

His mother ate her dog.

And Dereks don't run, though a friend of mine named Derek has done just such a thing before.

Damned reality; it never lives up to it's potential like the bad movies do...

Neville

Paul (Ezra Godden) in Stuart Gordon's "Dagon". He is so dumb that when the whole town is after him he screws a new lock in the door instead of doing the obvious, that is, to pile any available furniture against the said door.

BTW, I still don't know if the movie has been screened outside Europe...

Here is some info... http://us.imdb.com/Title?0264508

Vermin Boy

Don't know if he's really a hero, but Michael Moriarty's Jimmy in "Q: The Winged Serpent" is the biggest loser of a protagonist I've seen in a while. "Kiss my ass! In public! On the Johnny Carson show!"
