Happened to catch "Aeon Flux" as the inflight movie from Denver to Dulles.

My general impression was it was a movie based on a cosmetic ad based on a video game.  And proof that all MTV can do anymore is to copy the trappings of style, without any understanding of how to really be stylistic

It was awful, and NOTHING like the cartoon series.

This was a "Style with no Substance" type of flim. I am a huge fan of the cartoon and I had a feeling that weren't going to capture the feel of the cartoon. It was hard enough for the cartoon to go from those shorts that had Aeon dying every episode to a 30 mins.

The only thing that came out that was good from the movie they finally came out with a "legit" dvds of the entire cartoon series.

I was a fan of the show when it was on MTV back in the day, and was mortified that this flick was even made. There is no way in hell anyone could make me see it unless they paid me at least $75 to do so.

I'm not being critical of your stance, just curious.  Why not? Are you opposed to a live-action adaption in general, or this one in particular?

I watched Aeon Flux when it was a short on Liquid Television.  It was interesting and wierd.  When I heard that a live action flick was being made, my very first thought was "how can THAT be done?"  I was midly interested at first, but having read reviews and a fair amount of chatter about it on the 'Net, I really have no interest in seeing it either.

Professor Hathaway: Up the voltage.

Charlize Theron played a chick in leather named Aeon Flux, but she did not play THE Aeon Flux.

Sadly, I will probably go see it since I'm such a fan of the series.

On the positive side however is the fact that I'll see it for free [I can see free movies till the end of May, yippee!] so I guess I'm only losing time and brain cells.

It's always a shame: when I heard that Charlize was in the film, my heart sank [I was hopeful of the film] just because I couldn't imagine her in any way capturing the essence of the TV series, and as such the whole film, no matter how good technically, can only go downhill from there.

By the way, it still hasn't been released here, and I'd say that's because it was such a flop in the states: same thing happened to Underworld.  Ads and posters are up for months and months before it's finally released.  Underworld did alright on dvd sales and rentals so I guess it's not all bad for them though.
