So who should the villian be for Spider-Man 3?

I think why I liked Spider-Man II so much was because of all the focus on Peter Parker. In the comics Peter seems to always fall on hard times, with only a few good things happening to him.

But it would have been even better if Dr. Octopus got a bit more screen time. He had enough action but not enough Ock being Ock scenes.

And plan9 I thought I heard Dunst got in trouble for 'revealing' the villians. Who knows maybe this is all an act to trick us and give us one hell of a surprise....sorry for being retarted.

Boy, none of you guys get around much. It's been known for a year that Venom is appearing the film. In fact Sony has released a poster with Spiderman in the black "symbiote" costume. Topher Grace and Thomas Haden Church are playing the villians. According to Coming Attractions, Church is playing the Chameleon.

Check it out at Coming Attractions. They also have the poster.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

I've seen the picture of the dark Spider-Man costume and it does sort of make Venom a bit more believable.

I think I'll only know for sure until  I see the previews or the movie. I thought I heard that Raimi didn't like Venom that much and preffered the older villians.

I haven't really 'kept up to date' on the whole thing, but I did hear about Topher Grace as Venom/Eddie Brock, but considering the way the business is, I prefer to get things straight closer to the release date [I heard all this a while back]

Oh and AndyC, I was also a little miffed at the whole 'another Green Goblin' storyline, but right after I found out about that, someone mentioned the possibility of Harry being torn against his father and friend, and thought it could actually be a really good storyline, and not just a re-hashing of numbers 1 and 2.

And yes, not enough Ock, and too much Mary-Jane.  Though isn't Gwen Stacey supposed to be in this one as well?

Bah.  As for the whole too many villains thing; where does it say that there should be just one villain in a movie?  Sure it's easier in terms of story, but I think it actually helps, to a degree.  Playing the games [yeah I know, different things] were a good way of finding out how it could all relate together.  Anyways, they all are supposed to come back eventually [unlike getting killed off after one movie, since that's a silly idea] but I think it can work.

If done right of course.

Anyway, I guess it's just a wait and see thing I guess.  Not much we can do about it really!

Oh and thanks for the poster link trek, though I must say that the whole dark costume thing doesn't scream 'Venom' to me.  I guess it is a teaser though.

I've heard the rumors... and I hope they're wrong, except for Sandman. I think he could be done very well. Three villians is too damn many for new opponents. Venom is my all time fave, but he should fight Spiderman alone in his first appearance... then maybe add Carnage if there's a second opportunity. Too many foes spoil the fight. I hope to god we never see a Sinister Six move pulled in a Spiderman film.

I just want to know how are the gonna cram up THREE villains in a single Spider-Man movie.

Is Sandman gonna turn into a mindless hechman of Venom and the Goblin, just like Bane in "Batman & Robin"?

I mean think about it: they have introduce Flint Marko, have him turn into Sandman, re-introduce all the returning characters, have Harry Osborn urn into the Goblin, introduce Eddie Brock, have the symbiote come crashing down to Earth in a space shuttle, have Spider-Man get the symbiote when he rescues the astronauts, introduce Black Spider-Man, have Spider-Man realize that the symbiote makes him evil, have him get rid of the symbiote, have Eddie Brock get the symbiote, have Sandman wrecking havoc, have Venom wrecking havoc, have the Goblin wrecking havoc, have Spider-Man fight Sandma, have Spider-Man fight Venom, have Spider-Man fight the Goblin, introduce Gwen Stacy, have Peter Parker cheat on Mary Jane with Gwen Stacy, kill off Gwen Stacy, introduce Captain Stacy, kill off Captain Stacy, kill off Sandman, kill off Venom and kill off the Goblin.

How the hell are they gonna cram all of THAT into a two hour movie?

Exactly my point, though in a somewhat long-winded form...

I will be seeing Spider-Man 3 simply because of Topher Grace.

scott: yeah, i wondered how they were going to re-tool the venom origin myself.

plan9superfan

They are gonna have the symbiote come crashing down to Earth on an (Earthen) spaceship iloted by John Jameson, just like in the cartoon.

Shadowphile

Venom needs his own movie.  Maybe they will be strigning the storyline through a second movie, the way they did with the Pheonix in X2.  Will they be that smart about it?  Unlikely.
