I watched it on Friday, and it was really fun. I can't wait for this next Friday, because then the two parter will be back to back.

My son came home for his birthday and brought me the whole series and the Christmas Special with the new Doctor (David Tennant).

I liked Eccleston's portrayal and it ranks right up there with the best (Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, and Peter Davison). Tennant is definitely different, much more hyper and he appears to be a more physical Doctor (like Pertwee). Of course, the Doctor is usually stranger than usual for a while after a regeneration.

I think Davies has done an excellent job of reviving the series.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Now I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard that Tennant might be leaving the show after production is finished on a 3rd series. What is up with these actors? Now I realize that they are afraid of being typecast or that playing 'The Doctor' will overshadow their careers, but come on. Peter Davison is a good example of an actor who's played 'The Doctor', but is just as famous and recognized for the other roles he's played over the years - namely Tristan on 'All Creatures Great & Small', as well as a multitude of other shows, miniseries, and movies.

personally, i'm sort of fond of the idea of seeing a new doctor in each season. i think danny john jules, better known as "cat" from red dwarf, would make a great doctor. could we also see a female doctor? might be nice. so far they've all been white males...

trekgeezer

Well , Tennant is number 10 and having established before that the Time Lords could regenerate 12 times that only leaves three more unless he takes to stealing bodies like the Master.

Yeah. I was thinking about that the other day. Would The Doctor resort to stealing bodies? Personally, I don't think he would.

I remember hearing some 'talk' about there being a female doctor in the next series but I think it's a little wierd and silly, though 'Cat' from Red Dwarf would be a great choice.

I can actually picture the Doctor grooming a replacement rather than just an accomplice, to carry on his affairs.  Though I'm not sure if it'll be as fun.

The talk of a female doctor, if I remember correctly, has been circulating since the '80s. Personally, it wouldn't work. There were already female time travelers. Sure something has happened in the back story of the new series where the Doctor says his planet is gone, but I'm sure there are some Time Lords out there lost just like him.

how much you wanna' wager that they're going to throw that whole concept right out the window?

K-9 and Sarah Jane Smith will both be returning in the next season, juding from the preview at the end of last season's finale. It should be interesting, particularly with Anthony Head as the episode's villain.

this week's episode should be "dalek", which is quite a good one.
