Where can I find a copy of this great bad movie?  I stared Helen Slater and Christian Slater (no relation I think).  Any thoughts?

Ash

Look on E-Bay.

I actually like this film for some odd reason.
Sure it's preposterous...but it's fun!
And Helen Slater never looked so hot!

Neville

Oh yes! The epitome of 80s cheese.

Christian & Helen share bear no relationship, and the movie is terrible. I have, however, seen it several times just to see Helen Slater in motion. Shame on me... Ah, wait, it's on TV tonight, I'll have to change my appointments...
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene
I said don't mind, but what do you mean I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round
She said I am the one will dance on the floor in the round

She told me her name was Billie Jean, as she caused a scene
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round

People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
And mother always told me be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

For forty days and forty nights
The law was on her side
But who can stand when she's in demand
Her schemes and plans
'Cause we danced on the floor in the round
So take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice
(Do think twice)

She told my baby we'd danced till three, then she looked at me
Then showed a photo my baby cried his eyes were like mine (oh, no!)
'Cause we danced on the floor in the round, baby

People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
She came and stood right by me
Then the smell of sweet perfume
This happened much too soon
She called me to her room

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
She says I am the one

Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover

I'd talk, considering that you are taking shots at a mod; and where the hell do you get off treating Trek like that anyway.

plan9superfan

Sorry, but don't insult my idol.

Andrew

You are warned.  I will not tolerate any more idiot stunts or insults.  The next time something you do annoys me I will delete your account.  I'm in a plenty angry mood today and you have been on the edge of my patience for a while.

Not that it matters any great deal, but this movie was filmed near where I live. They played movie magic with locations (for example, the characters run into a mall, then across some indoor overpass that is actually at the airport and into another mall that is in no way connected to either location). They portray Corpus Christi as being an almost exclusively white town (in reality, it is nearly 80% hispanic). It's fun for me to watch this and see locations I recognize, even though the movie so mixes up geography no one could come here and hope to see the sites used.

Oh, and Amazon.com has it on VHS, but it's waaaaay overpriced.

You must be a glutton for punishment.

When I was a kid I thought this movie was so cool.  Must have been that Pat Benatar song.  I saw it again a few years back and was blown away by its awfulness.  By the time she cuts off her hair and starts shouting "Fair is fair!" I was cringing in my seat.

Still, while I generally dislike the "so bad its good" classification, this movie is one of them.  Its just so wrongheaded on so many levels one can't help but enjoy it.  It also serves as a good time capsule for the 1980's.

And yes, it's got Helen Slater to look at.  If that's all you're looking for, go rent SUPERGIRL.  It's also a terrible movie, but at least it has Helen Slater in a Supergirl outfit.

Interesting Trivia: The "boyfriend" in the movie, who I generally refer to as "goofy looking 80's guy" is Keith Gordon, who has become a somewhat accomplished director.  He did a adaptation of MOTHER NIGHT a few years back, which is one of the few Vonnegut movies that works.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Neville

Yeah, I remember Gordon. He was in several decent movies back in the 80s, like "Christine" or "Dressed to kill", but now only works as a director. He also made that last version of "The singing detective", right? That one was quite good.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone.

I apoliogize to all the mods out there.

I found some memorable quotes coutesy of IMDB

Binx: Hey, get your hand off that!
Hubie: What, your sister? Or your fagmobile?

Binx: What's this?
Putter: I think it's chicken.
Binx: It doesn't taste like chicken.
Ophelia: When you rich, food ain't supposed to taste like what it really is.

(Oh and that "chant" I was looking for)
Billie Jean: Fair is Fair! We didn't start this! We didn't mean for this to happen! But we're not giving up until you pay! FAIR IS FAIR!

Ringwald: If that scooter's not back on your front lawn in two days...
Billie Jean: We live in Breeze Haven...
Ringwald: All right, in front of your trailer...you give us a call, we'll...drag in the f**ker.
