Great film. CARNIVAL OF SOULS is a really neat fillm with a almost (French) surreal feel to it, but with American culture added.  I was pleasantly surprised by this film with the dead man who followed the girl. The female star was good and the atmosphere is just different. It has lengthy moments of non-diologue an organ music. Erie film. Sometimes though I wonder if in many films that we see that perhaps the TV shows Twilight Zone and Star Trek did them better, but note that CARNIVAL OF SOULS is now one of my favorites.

Which one did you see? I saw the Larry Miller version...and yes, I too like the film.

Hey,

Can anyone tell me why did Wes Craven directed such a bad remake of Carnival of Souls? I havent seen the original version, but Im really looking forward to do so. I have only seen the remake Craven did and it was awful. Therefore, if anyone can give me some reasonable explenations or where is the link between the two movies, please, let me know.

This is definitely one of my favorite classic horror films.  If I had to choose between CARNIVAL OF SOULS and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD as my favorite one from the 60s, I would have a very hard time.

Pablo, Wes didn't direct the awful remake to Carnival Of Souls. He was the producer. Why would he attach him self to such an awful movie? That is the question we should be asking. Of course I also wonder why Larry Miller did this movie. A man of his talent should be doing movies worthy of his talents, not crap like this.
