I just heard that they are re-releasing the Stargate SG-1 series in 10th anniv. special ed. sets that are not only going to be cheaper, but also have a sneek peak at season 10.

Now I have to go re-buy seasons 1 & 2 so my sets will match.

I was hoping they'd make a sequel to the original movie.  The book sequel was excellent.

There was a book sequel?  Was it written before the TV series [I'm assuming it is] and if so how different to the TV series is it?

You see, I love the TV series, but I'm pretty interested in a different perspective.

UGH!
I absolutely cannot stand the Stargate TV series.
I have tried watching it many times and I can't seem to put my finger on what's wrong with it.

I think it's a combination of several things...mainly the actors that comprise the cast.
Even after watching quite a few episodes, I could care less for a single character on the show.
I couldn't get into the stories because the actors were so bad and not believable.
Richard Dean Anderson as a hero...yeah right!

And the guns they all use...Belgian P90's?

Come on!

I liked the movie for some odd reason.
The scene where the retarded native gets blown away and then you see his helmet flying in slow motion always makes me laugh.

I wanted to like the TV show...I really did.
I compare it to many other shows and feel like I'm slumming when watching it.
Stargate's TV series is second rate in my opinion and not worth my time.

There's so much better s**t out there.

Can't agree with you on this one Ash, Stargate is the Star Trek of the new century. Atlantis is starting it's third season and they are talking about a theatrical movie and another spin-off series.

Actually, they have begun to use a wide range of weaponry, and the P-90 was adopted by the show because it ejects the expended rounds out the bottom instead of the side so the actors don't get hot brass thrown at them. Plus, the P-90 is more powerful than the MP-5's they used to carry.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

The book sequel (well before the tv series)  features a character who was essentially Ra's pet assassin.  It also features a ship that didn't just cover the top of the pyramid, it covered the whole damned thing.  I enjoyed it and I'm fairly critical about my books.
